Now this one’s personal. My daddy was a fireman for just shy of 20 years. Woke up at all hours, ran toward the danger while most folks were runnin’ away. He didn’t do it for praise, or medals, or some fancy plaque on the wall. He did it ‘cause somebody had to, and because he believed every life was worth saving, even if it meant riskin’ his own.

"They Stop When They’re Done" is a song I wrote not just for him, but for every man and woman who wears that uniform and walks into the fire. It’s for the ones who hold the line when things get real bad. For the folks who don’t clock out just ‘cause they’re tired, they only stop when the work is done.

If you’ve got a firefighter in your life, or ever been saved by one, I hope this song means somethin’ to you.
