The Importance Of Building An Email List. This really is the true bread and butter to succeeding online. For those that have listened to my previous podcast, I mention that there were 3 pillars to internet success, and those pillars are, knowing how to generating traffic, knowing how to monetize your site and knowing how to create a large audience base. If you can integrate all these 3 components together, you will become very successful with your online business. But out of the 3, cultivating a large audience base really is the crown jewel to making money online, if you can successfully do just that, you could potentially have access to an endless supply of wealth.

Now one of the ways to cultivate an audience base is by collecting emails, emails are a great way to communicate to people with your information. If you are writing content and you think that content has something good to offer, sending it through email is a great way to get your followers to read it, the bigger your list, the more money you will make.

Ok so what is the process to creating and building an email list ? Well the conventional online way to do it is to attract people to a landing or squeeze page where something free is offered in exchange for that person’s email. Usually you will find people offering an ebook of some sort or a newsletter subscription in exchange for an email. Then what most online marketers do is find ways to drive a lot of relevant traffic to that landing / squeeze page. By doing this and as people opt in for their free offer, they begin to build their list. 

Now aggressive online marketers will sometimes put up 10 – 20 of these landing pages all over the internet to build up their list really fast, and it is definitely a great method, but a word of caution if you’re thinking of using this approach because what most experts won’t tell you is that you need to put aside a good sum of cash to do this. Most experts just say, put up a squeeze page drive traffic to that squeeze page and collect emails right ? 

But the question is how, how can you generate traffic with just a single page landing page when it is very difficult for that page to get rank on search engines ? Your page might get ranked for lesser competitive keywords but that gives you very little traffic and you don’t have enough content on your landing page to compete with the competitive ones, so what do you do ? And unless you are very experienced at using social media it’s very tough to get traction from social platforms ? So the only viable way to get real relevant traffic to a landing page is to use money and buy lots of ads. Whether it be Google PPC ads or buying banner ads on popular websites or Facebook ads, that is the way to do it. And this is what other experts won’t tell you because it is a very expensive way to go, you need a lot of money especially if you set up 10 or 20 landing pages. But if money is not an issue and you know how to advertise online, you can definitely have a huge list is just a matter of months, maybe even weeks.

So if you’re thinking of employing this method, make sure you have some deep pockets and make sure you study and learn how to set up your ad campaigns properly!
Now money aside, here are some other things you should know in order to put together a successful email collecting campaign.

1st, Make sure you focus on building list in a popular niche, it doesn’t have to be a big niche like health and fitness or making money, but make sure it is a good size niche with lots of people, the bigger the pool, the more emails you can collect. Now some people will tell you to build a list for small, very targeted niches because those niche will have higher conversions, which is fine, but traffic for small niches tend to dry up faster and it can be tough pitching offers to the same people over and over again. So my advice is to go after medium to large niches, so that it is easier for you to build up a big list.
 
2nd, Make sure you have something good and relevant to give away. If it is an ebook, then make sure the ebook is a great ebook filled with great information that can offer something of value to people, this builds your credibility and trust with your audience and you need this trust in order for you to sell things to them later on.

3rd, Try to create and design your landing page or squeeze page to not look like the regular generic squeeze pages that you see online, people are very wary and cautious about those types of pages because many people have been burnt by those squeeze pages before with crappy giveaways a ton of upsells forcing people to buy.  So if your page looks like one of those crappy squeeze pages, you will find your email opt in rate to be very low even if your offering something really awesome as your free give away. 

Instead give them a page they can sink their teeth in, have an intro video describing your free offer or why you would like to give away something for free, have written content that talks about the specific issues your offer will address, put your own picture on the page to let people know that there is a real person behind this offer ...  Add anything you can onto your page that induces trust.

Now if you don’t have a lot of cash on hand and your willing to build your business and email list up slowly, the best way to do it, is to have a blog. With a blog you can create a lot of content and through time your blog and blog posts will get pick up by search engines and by social platforms. Within your blog, you should create a landing page and have lots of anchor text and banners directing people to your free offer and get them to opt in. If you are using Wordpress, you can easily set up your offer and an opt in box in the widget section which than will appear on every page of your blog, so no matter people are browsing they will have a chance to opt in and get your free offer. Another word of advice if you plan on playing with paid ads, make sure you know how to calculate ROI (Return on Investment). If you want to minimize your cost, make sure know how to calculate what you’ll be making on the backend so that you can minimize your advertising cost. Now once you have your campaign set up to collect emails, make sure implement a good autoresponder. So for those that don’t know what an autoresponder is, quite simply, it’s a piece of software that enables you to send emails to people automatically. You can set up a sequence of prewritten emails that are sent out to your followers at regular intervals. The emails you collect go into a database that is usually stored on an autoresponder support platform and once the email enters the database your followers can receive a series of prewritten emails that you’ve set up. It makes life a lot easier to use an automated system to send a welcome email to your followers rather than you doing it by yourself, one by one each time someone opts in. 

So go get set up with a good autoresponder and do a whole series of prewritten emails with good information and products to sell that goes out to your audience automatically a different times of the month. There a some really good autoresponders to choose from like Awber, Constant Contact and Get Response, I personally use Get Response because I find that the inbox rate is a lot higher than the rest. I think that is really important because you don’t want your emails always ending up in people’s junk or spam folder. Plus it has a lot of management tools to make your emails look good and the price for using Get Response is rather cheap. 

Ok so the last thing I want to touch on are things to be aware of in order for you to maintain a good email list so that it can bring in some income each time you promote an offer or sell a product. 

1.Respect your list, make sure to always give them top A grade stuff, no matter if it’s information or promotional offers. If you always give your list the best, people will be wanting to read what you have to say and your open rates will be sky high.

2.Don’t abuse your list, don’t send an email every day, people don’t like to see their inbox filled with crappy emails. Spread out your emails on a weekly basis so that it doesn’t annoy your followers. And don’t always send emails that asks people to buy stuff, that becomes very spammy and people will get tired of that very quickly and before you know it, they have unsubscribed and are now off your list. Give your audience a bunch of free content and on occasion give them something to buy that can be of help and of benefit to them.

3.Only sell what you believe, if you sell crap, your list will become crap very quickly. People very often only think of the dollar sign, so they promote anything that can make them money, soon they find out that their open rate diminishes and the ones that still open the email are very non-responsive. So to think that you spent all this time to build up a list with so much earning potential only to have it disappear on you because you started on the path of one of these 3 mistakes. 

So respect your list, don’t abuse it and only sell things to your audience that you believe in, follow these 3 rules and your email list will live long and prosper.

Today were going to talk about “Blog Monetization, How To Generate Money With Your Blog.” I get a lot of people asking me about how to make money online and the first thing I always ask is “What is it that you know, what is it that you’re an expert in, or what is it that you have interest in?” Then the second thing I would say is “Take that idea and go and start a blog” Because a blog can create a huge source of income, as long as you know how to promote it and properly monetize it.

There are a lot of blogs out there. Most of them are either not trying to make money or don’t know how to make money with it. But for those who are looking to generate and income with a blog, make sure you know the different areas your blogs can make money and how your blog can compete in search engines, in traffic, and in interest.

I always believe that if you’re not generating money with your blog, then you’re potentially ignoring a great source of income. The strength of a blog is really simple. You have a place where you can post new content and new information about your products or services. By posting new content regularly, you can reward your current customers or subscribers and set up a great place for new customers to find out what your business is all about.

So, let’s say you want to generate more money with your blog, but don’t know where to start. There are so many different methods to choose from, picking one at random and diving in blind can be a little intimidating. So let’s go over some of options.

Here are 6 tips on how to Monetize and generate money from your blog. One, you can promote reputable and reliable Affiliate Programs on your blog. Two, you can sell a product or service that is of high quality. Why it is important to brand yourself and your business on social platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin and You Tube. If you want to grow a large online business, then you have to be part and take advantage of online social media.

Facebook’s a bit of a juggernaut, it has buckets of customers and a huge subscriber base. Facebook has a billion accounts, that’s a lot of people that could be following your page. That alone is a good enough reason to have a Facebook page. But, having a Facebook page doesn’t mean that people are actually reading it. If you’re not actively posting new content or news about your business, then your page isn’t going to get nearly as much traffic as it could. 

For those of you looking for something punchier, Twitter might be what you’re looking for. Twitter is an online social networking service and microblogging service that enables its users to send and read text-based messages of up to 140 characters, known as "tweets". If you want speed, easy access, and mobility, Twitter’s probably what you’re aiming at. Posting a tweet is easy to do, and reading a tweet is easy for your customers. It doesn’t take much effort to look up one of your tweets, and you can reach anyone with a smartphone anytime, anywhere. 

Now if you’re a visual person and know your way around a camera, You Tube can be a very good resource. You Tube is the second largest search engine next to Google. And these days, most people want to watch things rather than read them, and I think you can get a lot of customers from You Tube. Again, try not to just make one video and never update again. 

Google+ is a good alternative to Facebook, if you can advertise through it. One of the things that makes Google+ so good for personal use is that you can create circles, groups of online friends that only receive the news you want them to. This isn’t as useful for us, because we want to reach as many people as possible. 

Pinterest is a site that lets you post images and share them between people. A heavy portion of its user base are fashion fans, car enthusiasts, and arts and crafters, but you can promote anything on it really. I think one of the best things about Pinterest is that you can update a Pinterest profile pretty steadily without having to write much copy for your promotions. So if you’re stretched for time or don’t have an ear for language, Pinterest could be easier than pumping out blog articles or detailed Facebook updates.   

LinkedIn is one of the better ways to get in contact with other people in your field. For anyone who doesn’t know, LinkedIn is a site designed for people in professional occupations. It is mainly used for professional networking, and recently LinkedIn reports more than 200 million acquired users in more than 200 countries and territories.

Facebook has over 1.6 billion accounts and hundreds of millions of people using their website every day, it is by far the largest social media network you have access to, anyone starting an online marketing campaign should take full advantage of it. 

Let’s break Facebook down into a couple different components: 

- content 
- features
- Facebook ads

For content you can put videos, graphics, photos, audio clips or links to podcasts, almost anything you can find on the internet can be accessed through Facebook. People gravitate towards pictures on social media. Describe some of the features and ask people to comment on what they think ... People always want to give their thoughts on everything, especially on Facebook. People also like to watch videos. Always have a call to action asking them to participant through liking, commenting and sharing your content.  

Some features to look into are: 

- Alerts
- Promotion
- Graph Search

Facebook ads must be relevant, have a strong headline, attractive thumbnail and a good call to action, and use a red boarder.

Use Quantcast and Google Trends to locate your demographics.

Test multiple your ads with different combinations of headlines, thumbnails, call to action. Start with using CPC with a low bid of $0.10. Run the ads for 3 or 4 days than pause and re-start a week later.
