Landing on Toolroom, it’s a label debut for an upcoming Liverpool based DJ & Producer ESSEL, who makes her way onto the label in a big way with her debut single ‘Love Vibration’. 

A huge record for the emerging artist who, in the short space of time, has risen through the noise at breakneck speeds, turning heads, and dropping dance floor heaters alike. ‘Love Vibration’ is without a doubt a straight up House banger, with a stomping groove and funky bass line that’ll get any dance floor moving no matter what time it is.

So far, 2021 has seen ESSEL go from strength to strength, especially after the success of her hit ‘Running’ on Love & Other which saw the upcoming artist gain major support from streaming services and national radio, racking up over a million streams earlier this year. From residencies at Sankeys Ibiza, Eden & Ibiza Rocks Hotel to release to quality records on Love & Other, Toolroom Trax, Good Company Records and finally Toolroom, it’s clear that ESSEL isn’t letting up anytime soon. This is the stuff DJ dreams are made of. When A-Trak released his 10 Seconds Vol. 1 EP, a project made entirely on the SP1200 drum machine, French legends Alan Braxe and DJ Falcon were immediately drawn to it. Of course those two are no strangers to that sampler. The Daft Punk and Stardust affiliates made many of their early-2000s classics on the SP. Braxe + Falcon were in the middle of releasing their own (fantastic) collaborative project, too. A conversation started, stems were exchanged, and within a few days this incredibly funky remix landed in Trizzy’s inbox. The French Touch is alive and well!

Ferreck Dawn's internationally recognised sound returns to Defected with what he describes as an "atmospheric yet very danceable track."

'Better' features vocals from Jena Asciutto, a US vocalist who rose to prominence on national television before signing with leading agency Metatone: "When I first heard Jena's topline I was blown away by it. She has such a great voice and I love the delivery and emotion it has." On creating 'Better' with Ferreck, Jena says that the infectious track "touches on a spectrum of different inspirations. Ranging from self-love and acceptance to setting the standard in a relationship. You can have all of me or nothing at all."

With Summer well and truly underway, Toolroom are set to unveil the hotly anticipated return of renowned Glaswegian artist KC Lights, as he delivers yet another classic record in the making – ‘Better Times’, featuring the stunning voice of Merseyside-hailing Låpsley. A debut collaboration for the pair, as they drop a sun-soaked, cut of Disco infused House that will undoubtedly soundtrack the long summer evenings to come in 2023.

Featuring on the record is critically acclaimed vocalist and songwriter Låpsley, who rose to fame back in 2016 with her debut LP ‘The Long Way Home’ on the legendary XL Recordings. Of course, you can’t forget DJ Koze’s massive disco edit of ‘Operator’, which shot Låpsley through the stratosphere. With a string of huge hits and a voice to match, KC Lights and Låpsley come together on ‘Better Times’, offering a glimpse of a bright summer to come that we’re itching to get into already.
