Blood Trust advances the Digital Red Label Series with “To Live For” and “To Die For” – twin sonic assaults locked in at 170 BPM.

“To Live For” leads off with an undercurrent of jungle-inflected turbulence, strengthened by stark tech-step scaffolding and squelchy bass rumblings. A mechanical yet fluid syncopation rushes the momentum forward, carrying interlocking pieces that never seem to collide.

Descending further into darkness, “To Die For” joins fragments of hardcore punk samples with “Under the Skin” style string swells, punctuated by buzzing drum edits and driving percussion. A stripped back, steppy interlude eases the tension before the track reforms its menacing core.

“With “Surface To Air” b/w “Gangstalking”, Blood Trust follows up his debut releases on CNVX and 3024 with the Digital Red Label series, further staking out his own precise vision of Drum n Bass futurism. 

“Surface to Air” opens with a cold rush of tension, grounded by stepping percussion and a bassline threaded through open space. Relentless pressure mounts with flashes of breaks and flatlined Reeses, dissonance eased only by the acquisition of new targets. 

“Gangstalking” follows with highly-focused pressure, encompassing cut by jagged kicks and scattered rims. As an acidic figure snakes its way through the mix, Blood Trust reaffirms the forgotten possibilities of techstep’s dread and imagines an alternate timeline, one built off the wreckage of the past but with the possibilities of the future.

Blood Trust returns to his ‘Digital Red Label Series’ with another barrage of near-future tension. This latest instalment outlines the echoes of tech-step, industrial techno, and hypnotic dread, assembled into a deeper level of refinement for Blood Trust’s sound.

“Stimulant” recalls the curtain fire mania of Japanese first person shooters, and the animation that inspired them. Rushing snare rolls whiplash past missed obstacles, anchored by a hypnotic call and response of precision bursts and dissonance.

“Carboot” is both a nod to Renegade Hardware’s peak-era hustle, and an imagined future of further supply chain disruption and market isolation. Traces of grime’s gliding squares get punched through by jagged percussive strikes and the shadows of MC chatter, old transmissions repurposed for a colder landscape.

Blood Trust resumes the Digital Red Label Series with two new transmissions of dystopian ordeal. ‘Dry Run’ opens with the clenched-jaw tension that he excels at, matching disembodied voices against a rigid pattern of apache syncopation and clockwork drone bombardment. ‘Ecotone’ follows with a bubbling, disfigured stepper that grinds up the heaviest tropes of industrial techno, tech-step, and grime into a morass of collapsing snares and relentless, shifting percussion. Blood Trust makes a pitch-black return to the Digital Red Label series with "Give Them Rope" and "Leagues Apart", revealing a decelerated, yet intricate evolution of the signature sound he first introduced on 3024. 

"Give Them Rope" navigates the murky terrain of mutant UK garage and grime influences, hinting at the pulse of Diwali-rhythm dancehall. An ever-present double-time roll punctuates through distorted ambience, evoking a sense of relentless drive. 

"Leagues Apart" delves deeper into the skeletal framework of UK garage, but deviates into a stripped-back, darker space with precision bursts of fragmented breaks. Are these tracks Drum & Bass or has Blood Trust begun an exploration of something else entirely?

"Blood Trust returns to the Digital Red Label Series with its fifth instalment, this time re-exploring futurism at 170 BPM.

"The Sound and the Fury" rolls out with death rattle percussion and tightly-wound delays before a devastating bassline anchors the remains. But before anything gets too comfortable, a mid-drop lays out a new layer of riotous breakbeats that rip through the sparseness.

"Sanctuary" presents a starker, more inward-facing contrast. Tech-step snares meet industrial grind, recalling 'Streetcleaner' -style pressure, but with syncopated breaks that elaborate on Blood Trust's mastery of subtle choppage.

These tracks are two sides of the same coin, inspired by William Faulkner's turn of the century vision of slow-burn violence. Listen at your peril.
