‘Vicissitude’, the debut EP from Los Angeles-based producer Lag Switch, to be released on Parisian label Abîme, is a record that tells the story of light and dark in which those two collide within a single entity.

On one side, there is the harrowing sound design, the monstrous textures and the overall lugubrious ambiance throughout the record. It depicts the bleak existence of a solitary creature, repulsive yet confused, steadily dragging itself through a barren wasteland leaving pain and suffering in its wake.

As the name of the record suggests, its other side is infused with hopeful and scaterred chords progressions paired with elegant motifs. While obscured by a thick layer of dark, desperate matter, a powerful light seeks tries to bring order to the underlying chaos.

When taking a closer look and immersing oneself in Vicissitude, the apparent contradiction between those two fades away, and we’re let with a brilliant depiction of one’s humanity’s oldest story. The creature, despite its unrestrained nature, reaches a benevolent understanding of itself and blurs light and dark into a visceral manifestation of hope as the record concludes.

The duo presents a sound design show-off consisting of raspy stretch algorithm artifacts, vocoded pulses and slimy granular flurries. Rhythmically, high impact overdriven kicks and syncopated motifs give the tracks a high energy urgency and momentum. Simmering, crusty chopped up break beats accompany stroboscopic pads, glistening metallic percussion and sweeping electro-acoustic gestures. Maneuvering naturally between almost snapping, bursting, fragmenting passages, effervescent glistening chords sometimes emerge, ready to get whacked by mangled, contorted drum machine outbursts.

Each Article Within The Suite, Individually, Is An Attempt To Soundtrack A Physical Teleportation Sequence OUT Of The Cape Fear River Basin Region Of The Carolinas AND INTO A Promising New Territory On The Shores Of Miami Beach.

Furthermore, a declaration Xovington makes on their META-owned instagram account notes their interest to invite into the world “Civil Conceptions Of Planet That Tessellate And Transform With Respects To Ordinal Social And Moral Need”.

In spring of 2017, Elusive will release his next electronic jazz outing, shaping his identity in recent years as a unique song composer and creative visionary. Titled Fusion Swing, the lengthy album is a record of spiritual ascension, vivid color schemes and dynamic rhythms. Pieced together at various studios across Los Angeles, the new record is a culmination of Elusive's history in the cross tandem worlds between jazz, hip hop, beats and classical. 

Fusion Swing’s rhythmic palette is intertwined with hints of the future and portals to the past. Jazz breaks from the ‘50s and ‘60s spiral over syncopated electronic tones with an odyssey of environments in between. The harmonic and melodic scope of Fusion Swing is just as cross pollinated and unique, folding out layer upon layer of organic blends that call to mind the most adventurous electronic artists.

Stretching out his musical base of collaborators, features are added into the matrix of his signature experimental sound. Pushing beyond the hardware and software aspect of this era’s electronic landscape, Fusion Swing glistens with texture, shape and harmony through the addition of saxophone, guitar, upright bass, trumpet, cello and harp. The individuals behind these instruments include Randal Fisher (sax), Emile Poree (guitar), Ardom Beltan (bass), Todd Simon (trumpet), Isaac Takeuchi (cello) and Christian Frederick Thierbach IV (harp). These are all members of the vast community of Los Angeles, embedded deeply within the never ending sense of culture found in the city of angels. 

Nite Jewel presents one of the more unique collaborations to Fusion Swing and the record's lead single, “Rinse Cycle.” Coming off a year of creative acceleration with the Dâm-Funk collaborative EP Nite Funk and the Liquid Cool solo album, Nite Jewel walks a fine line between soothing vocal cadences and dynamic color tones. Her vocal additives on “Rinse Cycle” carry that same essence of uncompromising beauty, showcasing how valuable the collaborative process is to this album. For all those looking to grab a unique piece from Fusion Swing, the “Rinse Cycle” single will be included as a limited edition lathe cut 8” square picture disc. The uniquely shaped vinyl pressing will be offered as a collectible in a volume of only 25 copies. 

For the visual extension of Fusion Swing’s album cover, Elusive called on surrealist collage artist Mykal Alva. The LA based visionary created a unique series of works that complement the album's sonic ethos and among those pieces emerged the finalized artwork. Building on the album design Mykal contributed on the last Elusive LP, Headspace, the art is a glowing counterbalance to the worlds of sound Elusive harnesses. On the engineering side, Fusion Swing was mixed and mastered in Los Angeles at the Cosmic Zoo by label owner Daddy Kev. 

The seventeen track full length drops on March 24th on Alpha Pup Records.

Elusive "Rinse Cycle (feat. Nite Jewel)"

Powder is an up-and-coming producer from Tokyo who had put out only a couple of releases on Born Free and ESP Institute when Resident Advisor featured her on the monthly series “Breaking Through” this past August.
Inspired by her first visit to Cocktail d’Amore in 2015, she was so enthralled by the atmosphere, she started working on an EP for the label – capturing her experiences from the party.
The way Powder interprets sound is extremely personal and unique. 
The opener “Hip” has a driving sensual groove with hints of acid, seasoned with a good amount of loons and a mysterious foggy melody while “Heart” sounds like an italo disco aural translation of a shojo manga script for a “fun in the sun” tinged story.
On the flip side a slowmo industrial-meets-rainforest groove characterizes “Hole” followed by “Hair” in which she blends many layers of rhythm patterns together.

Como vj ha colaborado con Designer drugs, Kill the Noize, Le Castlevania, Shinichi Osawa, Harvard Bass, Stereoliez, Acid Girls, entre otros, parte visual de las noches goticas de CHOLOGOTH NIGHT X Dave Parley ( Prayers ) y VJ de Cumbia Cartel. Larga vida a las noches con compus fallando en directo y metros de cable por guardar. 
 
La historia del video ocurre en “La Rumorosa” que es una carretera asombrosa, una jungla de grandes piedras y habitan animales que pocas veces se dejan ver. El trayecto es una locura, muchas sensaciones corporales y mentales, siempre imaginando que se levantaran gigantes de piedra o la sensación de los oídos tapados por la altura que se alcanza al recorrer esa majestuosa carretera para conectar Tijuana con Mexicali y el resto del país.
