Bloop Picks October (2021)

@anthonygeorgespatrice ’s music is nothing constant and stable as it aims to explore rather then succeed. The well acclaimed Parallel Romance even though being the one piece that may be remembered by most, represents only a fraction of the field attempted to be covered throughout the experience. Taking roots closer to the soul centered movements of Electronic Music, having as first influences artists like Sun Orchestra, Masters At Work and Glenn Underground, the musical taste and interest slowly shifted to a more essentialist direction while keeping a profound fascination for Detroit legends such as Rick Wade, Omar S, or even Carl Craig. The battle between explicit melodies and repetitive tools had now begun, the dance of the soul and the mind had now made its first step. From there started an exploration which is intended to never find an end, to never find a final destination, but which is lead by the strong hands of the Deep Spirit which represents the common factor, or the Ariadnes Thread to the journey. A sort of safety road map to follow in case the experiment turned bad. His ‘Interpersonal Challenge EP’ has been released on @endless-worldwide last month.

“Shaman” is a human archetype—the innate possibility in all of us to lead others to metaphysical growth through the process of storytelling.

I wrote this story to honor the life of my friend Brad. Earlier this Summer, I was at a garden party and Brad cornered me and began picking my brain about music. I previously only had brief interactions with Brad, but he remembered a set I had played the prior year and was peppering me with questions about my approaches to texture, percussion, melodic timing, energetic shifts, etc. I was amazed that someone had paid that much attention quite frankly. But in digging into those types of topics, he wanted to go deeper. What did it all mean to me personally? How does the medium of storytelling through music create purpose in my life? For the next couple of hours we slammed beers and I shared inner thoughts about things I have never had the words to fully express. He forced me to articulate things that drive me in a way that no one had ever done before.

In talking with others, it became clear that I wasn’t alone in that type of experience. Brad had a gift of getting the best out of you. Brad left us shortly after, but he left a mark on my life that I will always appreciate.

This is a live recording of a set that I played at the Element 11 festival during my camp’s day party. I incorporated lots of tracks that correspond individually to many of my friends who were there that day, and who knew and loved Brad.

Perfect for a lounge by the pool, around the fire with friends, or in a dark room 😈 I hope this mix will be in your background for years to come.

Known for her all-female underground house event Queens of Noise and specializing in bringing the vibe, we just had to have Orlando house staple Lola B. back to the Tavern in 2019! Giving her the coveted responsibility of ringing in the new year, she did not disappoint with an excellent set that spans the spectrum of dance music.

"This was my second year to play The Cityfox Odyssey in Gunita’s Tavern. My first year I kicked the night off and this set from the second year, I played 2nd taking everyone up to the ball drop. With an eclectic and varied taste in music and a determined approach to crate digging, I am always ready for a challenge. The always welcoming vibe Gunita brings to her events really leaves us as DJ’s able to have fun and feel comfortable.  This was an excellent night filled with thick vibes and wonderful music and friends.  Such a stellar way to kick off the New Year!!!"
