We welcome the legendary producer and label cofounder of @8bit-records-mannheim , Gorge!

Gorge, aka Pit Waldmann’s musical journey is the story of a lifetime. From his teenage years as a pop drummer, to his vibrant DJ career, to his role as one of the most revered producers in the electronic scene, Gorge has always been hooked on the beat. „I grew up surrounded with a mix of trance, techno, house and hip-hop,“ he says. „It gave me a very open mind.“

His attitude and openness has fuelled a thriving career as DJ, producer, and co-owner, with Nick Curly, of 8bit Records. Gorge sees no reason to compartmentalise his music, or himself. As a young DJ in Mannheim, he combined working five days a week as a paramedic with playing in the city’s thriving club scene. „In the ’90s clubs were open every day of the week,“ he recalls with a laugh. „I was going to study medicine but the music infected me.“

Eventually Gorge gave up work as a paramedic to focus on music. He began releasing records in the early ’00s, experimenting with deep sounds. In 2005 he and musical comrade Nick Curly founded 8bit Records, which became one of the standout labels of forward thinking electronica. It pioneered minimal in its early years, before evolving into a deeper, groovier sound. „That’s when the real hype began,“ Gorge says.

Once it started, the hype never stopped. Gorge pushes his sound and builds his reputation with every release, every gig. „I’m not a DJ who plays the obvious tracks with the big breakdowns,“ he notes. „I show people you can have a good time with hypnotic, groovy stuff. Every night is different, but I always want to create an atmosphere in the club.“

Sounds of Sirin Podcast #69 - Nhar

This artist tribute is dedicated to the Dutch musician and producer, Matthew Dekay. He’s based in Berlin. Matthew is known for his contributions to the electronic music scene, and has released music under the name MDK. 

In 2011, he collaborated with Lee Burridge to establish the record label All Day I Dream, which has become known for its ethereal, dreamy and melancholic sound.

Matthew's musical background includes classical training, which has influenced his approach to music production. He has always had a passion for electronic music, and has made a name for himself with his ability to blend different genres and styles. 

His musical taste is broad and inclusive, and he has released tracks in various genres, including Organic House, Deep House, Tech House, Electronica, Melodic Techno and Ambient, among others.

Personally, I found Matthew's releases to be highly impressive, and I am always excited to discover his new music. For this mix, I have curated a selection of tracks that showcase his versatility across different genres, and I hope you enjoy the journey.

Founder of Bloom Records Label, Golan Zocher's career started at a very young age (17) spinning vinyls in a city where the electronic music scene was just a shadow of Salsa and tropical rhythms.

Having a weekly spot on the only electronic radio station that existed in between1999 and 2001, (La Super Estacion) Golan would bring the best from what he would call "the core of Underground Electronic Music," the Global Underground Series at the time.

At the age of 20, when he began his studies in Audio Engineering at Sae College (Sydney, Australia), Golan was diagnosed with severe Tinnitus which required him to take a long pause from the music scene.

He then hosted a more mellow radio show on the same station, between 2002 and 2005, a program called Calma Electrica, inspired by the Global underground Series called Electric Calm. Golan introduced the b-sides of the major underground electronic scene. Albums and series like Back To Mine Series, Tosca, Kruder & Dorfmeister, Nick Warren (B-Sides), John Digweed's Layered Sounds, Sasha's Airdrawndagger and involver's, Ulrich Schnauss among many others, Golan would present them, and give each one of them a full show just to introduce them to the local audience.

After many years of being away from djing, Golan realized his life didn’t have a meaning without music so he reintroduced himself to the music scene with a different perspective on how to manage things with his tinnitus. He is currently working on his own productions and a live set that includes 5 or more musicians all connected through live ableton to produce live electronic music (flute, violin, vocal, synths, electric guitar, etc).

Now with releases on Plattenbank Records, Mango Alley, Manual music, Asymmetric recordings/dip and many more there are many great things to come from this Israeli-Colombian dj and producer.
