Strange Cadence is an independent record label and event series run by @Middle-James, dedicated to showcasing the intersection of jazz, deep house, techno and leftfield electronic. Based in Sydney, the label is driven by a passion for groove-rich productions and live performances where musicality takes center stage.

This new mix series continues to spotlight the vibrant Australian underground music scene. Episode 2 features a special recording from Melo, captured during her recent closing set at the Strange Cadence x CG Discs party, supporting Australian ambient/jazz/electronic collective @GODTET. Demonstrating her mastery of all things deep, Melo’s selections effortlessly glide from deep house, tech house, and classic house to dub and techno - crafting a rich and immersive two-hour journey. US artist Danny Daze, out of Miami, has long been affiliated with the more electronic side of dance music. From the early days in the electro scene and more abstract forms of techno, the Omnidisc boss has covered a lot of musical ground since then. Helping to reimagine the underground landscape, Danny was pivotal in the early 2010s club sound with releases on Hot Creations, Ellum Audio, and Kompakt. He soon turned his attention back to the obscure side of the dancefloor and IDM. As much a music lover and dancer as he is an artist, he knows exactly what works on the dancefloor and his recent album “::BLUE::” on his own Omnidisc imprint exemplifies this ethos. Sohrab Karimi aka Ahu https://soundcloud.com/ahu_sohrab is a producer born in Tehran, Iran, living in Berlin nowadays. Ahu is one of the few artists who prefer to adopt low profile, with little to almost no information about him, beside his music.

Ahu’s signature sound is almost impossible to capture into words: introspective blue, sometimes with a Giegling feeling, other times with deep & dubby references to the minimal house scene, yet always authentic and promiscuous.

Little do we know about https://soundcloud.com/shahr-farang nor https://soundcloud.com/kolonygorky, Ahu’s record labels and homes for much of his releases. The labels reflect his vision about the electronic music, with ambient soundscapes, experimental concepts and sometimes dancefloor oriented cuts.

Somewhere in 2017 Ahu accepted our invitation to contribute to the Introspections series with a mix built with his own productions. To this date, it remanis one of the most beautiful mixes we’ve ever hosted.
