This is a mix of music from South Africa, mainly focusing on the minority ethnic populations of the country. Music of the Tsonga, Ndebele, Venda, Basotho, Bapedi, Xhosa, as well as Zulu are represented. The recordings are taken from commercially released records, tapes and CDs produced for the local market between 1976 and 1991. The majority were collected on a trip through South Africa in 2015, with a few coming from private collections and shops in New York, Paris, and Athens.
