good track ...lead guitar with modern vibes

The idea for this started-out from a picture of graffiti I saw in downtown Athens, GA.  It was a spray paint and stencil that said “Break Open Your Heart”, and was heavy on the paint drips.  So, I though I should write a song called that because then I could use the picture I took of it for the song art.  Oh!,.. and the song is about some human or something that needs to open their heart to love or whatever... something something blah blah. blah.

Scene reports. Regional styles. It all seems charmingly antiquated these days, given how social networking cross-pollination has transcended space and time. But with a hyper-literate, tightly wound, and irreverent brand of post-collegiate rock, Bent Shapes may just be the most quintessentially Boston band of the last few years.

Since forming the group under the name Girlfriends in 2009, principal songwriters Ben Potrykus and Andy Sadoway have largely ignored indie trends leaking from the "industry cities" in favor of churning out earnest, expertly-crafted pop and post-punk laced with “some of the tightest punk poetry around” (Liz Pelly).

2013’s "Feels Weird" (Father/Daughter Records) offered a glimpse at the discomfort and desperation of youth, with self-reflections on personal growth and decay. Over a year of critical acclaim from outlets as diverse as Maximum Rocknroll and Pitchfork, a tour with John Vanderslice, and shows with Fucked Up, Ted Leo, and The Bats followed, culminating with the addition of guitarist Luke Brandfon and bassist Jenny Mudarri.

Bent Shapes spent early 2015 recording "Wolves of Want" with Elio DeLuca (Titus Andronicus), although Potrykus and Sadoway began writing what would become their second album long before "Feels Weird" was even released. “The basic format for how songs came together was the same: Ben would write a guitar riff or vocal melody along with some chords and then we would hash out the arrangement in our rehearsal space,” explains Sadoway. The band took their biggest risk in the studio, electing to record "Wolves of Want" purely analog with 16 tracks. “Even with a relatively small number of tracks, we were able to bring in some additional instruments that we hadn’t added to our palette before: cello, trumpet, trombone to name a few,” says Sadoway. “My favorite part of tracking was when Luke and I got to play a Steinway grand together during the outro of ‘New Starts in Old Dominion.’”

Thematically, Wolves of Want is an album full of meditations on mental illness, the struggle to bring goodness into the world, and faith in humanity as a renewable resource. These themes are particularly personal to Potrykus who was diagnosed with multiple anxiety disorders after experiencing acute symptoms on-and-off for years. “I talk about it openly, because what helped me when I felt isolated and alone was reading books and listening to interviews by comedians and writers that had dealt with the same thing. The mainstream perception of a given disorder isn't always accurate, and I don't want anyone to feel like I did when things were at their worst,” explains Potrykus. “Writing about it was cathartic for me, as well -- documenting how I was feeling gave me a way of contextualizing a personal crisis that made it seem like something I could overcome.”

"Wolves of Want" will be released by Slumberland Records on March 11, 2016.

L’alphalpha is a Dream Pop/Indie Rock band from Jakarta, Indonesia. The band consists singer-guitarist Herald Reynaldo , bass guitarist Yudishtira Mahendra, synthesizer player Citra Winitya , drummer Ildo Reynardian, pianist Byatriasa Ega, and violist Purusha Irma.  L’alphalpha musical influences are varied. Their musical style is link to various genres such as indie pop/rock, post-rock and shoegazing.   

L’alphalpha Began working their debut album in the mid 2010, continuing their unreleased EP at Black Studio, Jakarta. And in 11 February 2011 they self released their debut album entitled “When We Awake , All Dreams Are Gone”.

An emerging band from Indonesia's capital city, eleventwelfth, join forces with Six Thirty Recordings from the same region to release their debut self-titled EP. eleventwelfth has established their signature sound with four singles beforehand on their bandcamp and Soundcloud page.
Their recently released a single “Your Head As My Favorite Bookstore”, taken from their debut EP featuring Asterika from Barasuara, and has received a lot of listeners, and media attentions.

eleventwelfth started as a duo musical project by Rona Hartriant and Almas Makitsuna in 2014 and later joined by Yogawerda Kessawa that expands as a passionate project from all of its member.
As stated by Rona Hartriant, this EP is dedicated to his late father who passed away in 2015 that made the band into who they are right now.

eleventwelfth EP consists of music that described as an instrumentalisation of emotion, which goes hand in hand with outspoken honesty.
The music showcases twinkling-emo infused with indie rock through out non-stop multiple tracks that are narrated cohesively.
Listening to their debut EP somehow brings a familiar feelings.

With 9 tracks under their sleeves, this Jakarta’s most promising new act is set to create headlines of the music scene in 2017

BlubBeR is a Sleazy Rock, Alt. & Soul 4-piece band from Omaha, NE. Since 2012, K10 (Songwriter/Vox/Guitar) of BlubBeR has performed and released 4-EP’s, 3-Singles and a Rock Album titled “...in your food.” In early ‘21 K10 founded the band with Tim Ronan (Lead Guitar) and Darren Miller (Bass) after meeting years earlier in the Omaha Open Mic scene. The group is currently working on their first Alternative Soul single "Time for Change" as a group and are active in the local Omaha music scene and perform regularly at open mics.

BlubBeR kinda sounds like Maneskin or a lazy version of The Strokes with nods to Soul and a dash of Funk. Their energy is vulnerable and provides an authentic invitation to let loose and listen raw. Each release reveals a new piece of BlubBeR never chewed on before; some to be sent into the digital ether and some chosen to be performed live. Listen to their wide variety of genres and sounds.
