Continuing the loose series of "What If"s, here's how I imagine John Carpenter (circa 1981) might have done a Doctor Who theme. 

Synths used: Arturia Prophet VS, ARP Odyssey VSTi, LinnDrum samples, Amore Grand Piano, NI FM7. Also used was the Ferric Classic Tape simulator to give the mix a bit of retro crunch. 

Doctor Who is a trademark of the BBC. Doctor Who Theme composed by Ron Grainer, originally arranged by Delia Derbyshire and the Radiophonics Workshop. This has no official connection to John Carpenter.

Blue Gillespie are an independent Metal quartet from Newport, South Wales.

Whilst the four band members are diversely influenced by genres ranging from technical jazz to sludgy Metal, over the past four years their musical language has morphed and consolidated itself into its own brand of Prog/Metal

After the heavy blues and acoustic flavours in their 2008 debut ep 'Cave Country'  came the critically acclaimed, more progressive full length album 'Synesthesia' in 2010.  Now BG take one step further with their epic concept album 'Seven Rages of Man'

With 'Synesthesia' the band felt they had nailed the 'sound' that implied what Blue Gillespie was all about - the monster inside, that part of us that is capable of things our social masks don't usually allow. Now they wanted to use that sound to tell a bigger story, to make the characters in the music more three dimensional, to create a world for them to inhabit and a journey for them to take.

Upon seeing a striking image in Newport Library one of the band members started to form an a idea that would resonate deeply with the other three. The nature of rage, in its many forms, in all seven ages of man. There would be different characters, locations, countless shades of anger, and the very near quenching of it. Starting at birth and concluding at death the album was to not only to work as one piece of music but also as an unpretentious, catchy head banger. Fuck.

Eighteen months later, after a lot of sweat, bloody fingers and teary vocalists 'Seven Rages of Man' is complete. Mixed by 'Dub War' guitarist Jeff Rose, the band feel it is everything, and more than, they'd hoped for.

In 2012 Blue Gillespie proudly welcome music lovers of all genres to vent their demons, follow the stories, or simply mosh their tits off to 'Seven Rages of Man'

The band would like to acknowledge that VII.R.O.M is an achievement that would not have been possible without the emotional, financial and uncompromising support of their fan base or the tolerance and patience of their friends and family. Thank you all of you.
