An emotive overflowing story that explores the experiences of refugees and what it means to be displaced from one’s home, finding yourself being adopted to a new one and having to navigate and adapt to one’s new environment whilst simultaneously trying to make sense the new reality one has found themselves in.

The cycle of references tells the story of displacement “row the boat, row the boat” is a symbolic voice for refugees. Produced by Bobby Thomas Jr, Blue Saint shares a small glimpse of his life over a soothing beat; he blends rap. Blue Saint’s lyrical inspiration is a response to societal injustices.

A funky and breezy R&B dance groove, ‘Baby’ explores Blue Saint’s youth, looking at his joyful memories in Liverpool to create a fun, nostalgic feel. Blending elements of disco and house with R&B and hip hop the track invites the listeners in to happy times.

Using the story of Odysseus and Calypso, Blue Saint creates an extended metaphor exploring the feelings of depression and isolation. The breezy R&B and neo-soul track was written at a time when Blue Saint was feeling low and stuck.

‘Sweet Waters’ acts as a companion piece to Blue Saint’s ‘The Meadows’, exploring Black history by taking a look at the problems that came as a result of colonisation to many African nations; particularly looking at Blue’s home country.

Blue Saint speaks from the perspective of his younger self and showcases his alter-ego, Razor Raze, on his song ‘Spit’. The dark grime track explores the feelings of hunger, passion and the feelings of wanting to be recognised.

A Hip Hop and R&B soul groove, ‘Days of Old’ explores Blue Saint’s youth, looking at his joyful memories before he came to Liverpool speaking of his journey and his memories as a child.

A chill R&B and fiery soul track, ‘Let Me Go’, sees Blue Saint speaking about the toxic acts that can happen when you part ways from a badly broken friendship and the importance of moving on.

After a couple years of hearing rumours that a former friend of his was spreading lies about him, and staying silent, Blue Saint was then informed, on the 17th April 2022, by an acquaintance of his, that this former friend of his was still continuing to slander and speak ill of him. The news acted as the straw that broke the camel’s back, and, rather than staying silent, Blue Saint decided to write a song as a response, to quickly explain exactly what happened that lead to him falling out with his former friend.

The song was written and recorded on 7th May 2022, 2 weeks and 6 days after Blue Saint received the news.

A thought provoking, conscious raising story that tells the transformational tale of Blue Saint as he journeys through the surreal and fantastical, yet somewhat factual, City of Mynd; a city he yearns to protect. 

Set in an alternate world Enter Mynd chronicles the life of Blue Saint, as he serves as Protector to this strange place, and the many significant decisions and events he is faced with. The project addresses issues of morality and temptation – what does it mean to be good – as well as the importance of balance, contrast, duality and choices.

This is the first instalment of the Mynd concept series and it  focuses on the semi-utopian state of Mynd: at a time when the city is enjoying relative prosperity and all is well, to the birth of the masquerading criminal, Razor Raze, a being who seeks to oppose and usurp Blue Saint’s position in order to create social upheaval, terror and chaos.
