Naarm/Melbourne based producer and DJ VACATETHEROOM’s debut EP Telecommunication is finally here, coming off the back of the elusive remix of Melbourne based artist, Daniel Joshua’s Hivemind. 

For this first release, the young producer presents a blistering and eclectic four-track masterpiece, full of glitchy grooves and complex melodies composed of a characteristically dark mixture of cavernous ambience, warm analog synths and driving, garage-inspired rhythms. Telecommunication conjures a haunting and mystifying haze, drawing the listener in through its hypnotic and thoughtful web of sound.

Being a first generation Australian, with Hong Konger, German and Portuguese background, VACATETHEROOM’s sound comes from all corners of the globe. Commenting on his own process, VACATETHEROOM reflects, “These tracks were born out of the need to escape, and to create my own environment. Each an experiment, a kind of transportation into alternate worlds. I hope that people can connect with this project in that way, or their own''.

Garnering international recognition from DJs all around the world, and a new live show in the works, Telecommunication is the latest installment in VACATETHEROOM’s discography and marks new territory within Australian electronic music.

The vibrations take one on a far-stretching journey from the depths of psychedelic-infused, spacious and perplexing dimensions, to more familiar lights of pleasant and relatable grooves and lyricism. 

The production team consisting of Jonah Orbach (drums, vocals), Robert Feher (bass guitar/trumpet) and Darren Sacks (guitar/saxophone), cushion the soaring vocals of Matia Marks as the band brings an introspective sound to the Australian music scene.
