There are three major ways to get huge results without spending time/money/effort on marketing in the app business:

Be the first to do something. This could be related to development, a trend or a topic.

Shift the focus from the investment to the return. People who want free marketing tend to have crappy products.

Move the time/money/energy into another part of your business that will leverage word of mouth marketing (free). This could be the product, the customer support, the brand, the market research, anything.

The bottom line is this – tactics won’t build a business. Even if a tactic does make you money, you’ll end up spending it all when you chase the next one. 
Agonizing over a title change based on keyword volume is NOT going to move you forward the way focusing on fundamentals will.

Last week Twitter shut down the popular video sharing service Vine leaving thousands of incredibly talented content creators with nowhere to go.

It also came to light that these content creators knew early on that they were bringing huge value to the platform…but they were making no money. This was a problem.

One of Warren Buffet’s most popular pieces of advice to young people: get better habits.

Habits lead to results. If you have good habits, you have good results. Great habits = Great results.

Simple enough, yes? Not really.

Anyone who has tried to create a new habit knows how hard it can be. Once you’ve set neural pathways, they are difficult to modify.

It’s becoming more and more popular to promote building new habits. We follow endless blogs and model the 0.01% of performers hoping to find something that will get us the edge we want.

We learn that we should meditate more. Easy enough!

Take cold showers. You got it!

Journal each day. Consider it done!

We attempt to take on these new habits and inevitably falter. Life comes up. We don’t feel like it.

We turn to the internet for answers, which we find in “inspiration” which we use to refill our gas tanks of intention.

Most people are focused on changing how they feel…and DRAMATICALLY underestimate how emotional they are.

A lot of people will tell you that this perseverance and hard work is what will get you to #1 in the app store.

But Paxton Hare quickly realized it wasn't a matter of working harder, it was about putting energy into the right places.
