This was recited by one of Scotland's finest Matt McGinn who described it as an old army song but its origins are that it was piece of Australian Bush Poetry possibly penned by Henry Lawson an Australian bush poet from the 1800's and called the dogs meeting. Lawson was a contemporary of Andrew Banjo Paterson who famously wrote waltzing matilda.
