a colorful, jazzy breakcore fusion album with a sparkly, sentimental side. technically experimental but only in being hard to define. i hope you'll give it a listen to appreciate the scenery.

this sorta morphed into a concept album as i worked on it. i think i tend to have "style phases" which make things like this really convenient to mesh together and connect fluidly. for this, it was sparkly arpeggios and richer, jazzier harmonies. next? time will tell. (probably a mashcore relapse but this time I know how to mix)

the bittersweet comfort of accepting helplessness

a logical conclusion of "i don't want to be strong," representing the feeling of giving up, an weight off your shoulders but completely unhealthy. the comfort of believing no failure can truly be your fault because you're broken. the comfort of not having to try to help yourself, because why try to save the titanic? it's not pleasant and it sure isn't healthy but it's a weight off your shoulders.

6/8 future bass with a restatement of a leitmotif for my life. resonant highs and sour lows in the chords follow the melody every loop and give what feels to me a sense of hope, then doubt.

escape

hurting yourself can be fun

(this is not a promotion of self-harm, just symbolic)

the most personal song on the album, heavily inspired by nerve's ending. i made this song under a lot of stress and a revelation about fragility's importance to my self identity. i do sometimes fantasize about pulling myself apart (not sexually, just autistically), but i use it here symbolically to represent ignoring responsibilities and hurting myself in the long run to make myself feel better.

making this, i wanted it to be longer, but attempting to layer stuff on top just proved to undermine the chords' emotional meaning. the chords were made deliberately with the same less intentional method that "gone fishing under the stars" used, but taken even further with a more suspended basic layout with the same note cuts and bass movements.

the title's a very personal message. i'm strong because i have to be to go on but i desperately wish i could just give up and defer to others. if i could choose between being strong enough to protect myself or weak but protected by someone i can trust i'd never choose the first.

first song i made on the album, trying to recapture that spark i had in synesthesia. a culmination of a lot of my improvements but still with a bittersweet edge, adding a feeling of struggle just beneath the radiant highs.
