Flashing in the distance like a mirror caught at sunset, the glowing metropolis humming on the horizon, the jutting steel montage of skyscrapers and air graters beckoning us to press harder on the plasma throttle. Not long now, as we slipstream across the mirrored lake into a carefully configured pod port. Autopilot gently lands. The door pops and hisses as the fragrant smell of electricity fizzles around. JUNO REACTOR  -  Journey Through The Blue Room Years

Welcome to the first Blue Room Released Podcast, Flashback to Flashforward vol. 1. This is a voyage into sound. Where the past collides with the future. Blue Room Released was the first musical chapter in Blue Room's history, running from 1995-2001. Our tunes have been enjoyed worldwide, unifying humans of all genders, races, ages, and religious designations, each united by sound. So join us as we surf the legacy exclusively with the people that loved, shaped, and made its sound.

Introducing our first Pilot for this maiden voyage, Simon Ghahary. 
In the 1990's Simon founded a creative entity called the Blue Room, working together with a team of exceptionally talented people and designing revolutionary listening furniture called the Podspeaker range. In the same decade, he created the blueprint for Blue Room Released, a record label dedicated to sound art. Projects include compiling tracks and making artworks for Trip Through Sound, Made On Earth, Freekstyle, and the Signs of Life series.

Welcome to our second Blue Room Released Podcast, Flashback 2.

Introducing our exceptional Pilot, Eternal Basement, a.k.a. Michael Kohlbecker.  

Michael Kohlbecker is a classically trained musician and multimedia producer par excellence. Born in Vienna and living in Germany, he's been playing and making music in his native Frankfurt most of his life, first for Harthouse records, releasing legendary techno classics before becoming instrumental to the Blue Room Sound. A master maestro and a true artist who delivers tune after tune, Michael's creative output has been pivotal to Blue Room. His main project, Eternal Basement and the album gem Magnet (BR082) oozes bangers such as '1999', 'Be part of it,' the updated classic 'Taking Place in You,' as well as the genre stretching orchestral 'Overture.' His debut started with the pulsing fury of Montauk P and the album that followed Def=Lim (BR022), a duo with Gabriel Le Mar. Importantly you'll also find his signature beats and melodies as a cornerstone member within the dub of Saafi Brothers, again with Gabriel Le Mar, creating Blue Room stone-cold classics such as Mystic Cigarettes (BR032), Midnights Children (BR087) and the many singles and E.P.'s in between. His latest sonic adventures include 5D, aka Fünf D, and the single '5D featuring Stefan Ludley - Change is Coming', the album 'Eternal Basement - Science Faction' and ' Eternal Basement and Juno Reactor - Inside the upside down" on the brand new Blue Room Sounds imprint.

ETERNAL BASEMENT - BLUE ROOM FLASHBACK CHAPTER 02

Introducing our next exceptional Pilot, Acid Rockers, a.k.a. Matt Buggins 

Acid Rockers a.k.a. Matt Buggins is born and based in England, recording music since '91. He's appeared under many band projects, including Cygnus Loop, Hippies With Altitude on Harthouse, and Quark on Hpf Records, to name but a few. His recent past has seen him working together with Tayo on Soul Jazz and remixing Dave Clarke and the dancefloor classic Plastic Dreams. 

Acid Rockers began in 1996, together with Steve Walker. Their crucial release, the breakbeat-techno-hybrid Weirdworld (BR059), coincided with joining Blue Room. Acid Rockers joined a new generation of artists such as Saafi Brothers, Metal Spark, Alien, and Deviant Electronics, to widen the Blue Room sound into beats and dub. Their contribution to the compilation Freestyle, with the track 'Inside' (BR076) and single 'Traveler' (BR101), set a firm step into drum & bass. Acid Rocker's following album, the incredible Mindset (BR102), was a Blue Room game-changer and fruit of this long term effort. Mindset was a formidable weapon in the Blue Room cannon and an instant classic. A long play journey into the heart of drums holds up exceptionally well over time and still sounds fresh. Acid Rockers became a significant part of demonstrating musical diversity, psychedelically related yet different. It was unusual and outside the norm at the time, with the compilations Signs of Life, More Signs of Life (BR036 & BR074), and Freekstyle (BR076) paving the way for music outside the traditions of our dancefloor. It also inspired some of our artists to experiment and diversify their own signatures. 

This excellent selection of Blue Room tunes chosen and mixed by Acid Rockers epitomizes the sea change. Perfect for lazy afternoons in the Sun, it's certainly more laid back. Grab yourself a cold one and let Acid Rockers take you on a nice and easy trip into sound.

Introducing our next top striker Pilot, The Delta, a.k.a. Marcus Maichel

The Delta, a.k.a. Marcus Maichel is born in Germany and works out of Hamburg, recording music since the late '80s. He's famously one half of X-Dream, together with Jan Muller, an important pulsing artery running through the Blue Room legacy, such as the album X-Dream - Radio (BR066). A phenomenon that has lit up dancefloors worldwide. Although X-Dream is a colossal trance juggernaut, its personal project The Delta where he unleashes his shadow and drops some of the darkest, thumping techno soundtrack dystopia made. 

Marcus is a Blue Room Hall of Famer, and one of the most talented producers ever to grace the label. His first Delta single 'As A Child I Could Walk On The Ceiling' (BR037) was a mega-hit for Blue Room in the nineties, crossing over the dance scene. A-listed as a no.1 hit for many a D.J.'s playlists, including Paul Oakenfold.  Marcus is a true sound pioneer, an OG, and we would rate X-Dream and the Delta as one of the most copied sounds across the psy-landscape. Their trademark bass and kick pretty much became the scene's soundtrack in the late nineties and after that. Imitation, they say, is a form of flattery. Screw that. We think Marcus, keen to shrug off imitators, blew up the Delta to where most didn't dare to follow. It might be a premonition for an apocalypse or the opening of the Ark of the Covenant, The Delta unleashed is a soundtrack that rocks your soul. 

Not so fun fact: The Blue Room was in line to launch the Delta's first album but sadly missed out when the label suddenly fell to a halt in 2001. Hold those tears. There is a silver lining in every cloud, even if it takes you twenty years to find it. We are delighted to announce that the Delta will release a single this year on the brand new Blue Room Sounds imprint. Keep listening and play loud.

This magnificently crafted set of Blue Room tunes chosen and mixed by The Delta begins like waking up in a dream within a dream. However, don't be fooled, you'll soon be traveling at the speed of thought in no time.

Introducing our next ace Pilot, Gabriel Le Mar, a.k.a. Saafi Brothers

Gabriel Le Mar is a musician/music producer releasing electronic music with a distinct focus on rolling grooves, fat sounds, and dub-inspired TechnoHouse. Working in Germany, he played and made music in his native Frankfurt most of his life. Inspired by the mix techniques of Jamaican Dub music, Gabriel combines his heavy dub sound with the pure energy of dancefloor sounds throughout his productions. 

A master craftsman with a talent for timeless tunes, Gabriel's creative output has been crucial to Blue Room. He's a rock-solid root of the Saafi Brothers' creatively with Michael Kohlbecker delivering Blue Room treasures, such as Mystic Cigarettes (BR032), Midnights Children (BR087), and many more singles and E.P.'s in between.

He also flows through the fierce, transcendental melodies of Montauk P and the album that followed Def=Lim (BR022) as part of a duo with Michael Kohlbecker, his debut on the label.

GABRIEL LE MAR - BLUE ROOM FLASHBACK CHAPTER 05

Introducing our second trip with Chief Pilot, Simon Ghahary, Blue Room Founder. Ladies and gentlemen, we are now in zero gravity. 

This one is going hard. We start off with the remarkable RND Technologies, one of the last artists I signed to Blue Room, sadly left unreleased until now as Blue Room Released ground to a halt. Followed by N-tropic, a crazy young duo from France who unknowingly, for me at the time, trashed my hotel room in Paris and got me into a whole heap of label trouble with the Melt Management. Great track, though. Next, EBSG starts, "these scientists have had their chance," perhaps poignant apocalypticism, as we ignore our planet, and celebrate technology to race off the earth while turning into cyborgs. Grounded by the calm feminine voice announcing, "this is not the end," we remind ourselves that it isn't. We all have the chance to contribute and connect to this bright, beautiful planet we call home and, what's more, not give our power away to be part of it. EBSG is a project between Michael Kohlbecker (as Eternal Basement) and myself. Only released on white label, sadly, before a proper release for reasons like above.
Shuffling through frequencies to tune into 'Radio', this 'X-Dream' album namesake and classic was only available as a single. The next anthem is one of my favorite 'Eternal Basement' tracks, 1999, a futuristic memory now and an end of chapter one in the Podcast. Coming up for air, we breathe from the 'Jardin de Cecile', exhaling a tear for the start of the Bible of Dreams, this track combines the perfect ensemble of Juno Reactor, thumping afro-techno with a pull on the heartstrings through the collaborative ideas of Xavier Morels. A dazzling gem in the Blue Room crown, tempered with at the time, unreleased 'Deviant Electronics', and an invite to the Green Room. Psychedelica at its finest, riding an intergalactic lick, spiraling deep into the valley of the 'Sunkings' seen through the visors of Juno Reactor and the angelic voice of Taz. We arrive at the spirit of the Saafi's, channeled by X-dream, a perfect mashup of two musical worlds that break into the jump and downbeats of 'Delta Skelter'. We arrive at Total eclipse and float through the 'Age of Reason' into the cacophony of 'Acid Rocker's Traveler' wheels down into electro and the timeless sound of Löwen Im Regeu' by 'Galaxy' from 'Solar Synthesis', the last album released on Blue Room.

5D, aka Fünf D, is the project of Michael Kohlbecker, written with Stefan Ludley. Both are veterans within the electronic dance community. Michael Kohlbecker is a classically trained musician and multimedia producer par excellence. Born in Vienna and living in Germany, he's played and made music in his native Frankfurt most of his life, first for Harthouse records, releasing legendary techno classics before becoming instrumental to the Blue Room Sound. He is teaming up with Stefan Ludley, himself a known personality within the Psytrance scene, a veteran who's been there at the beginning, DJing and releasing music since the '90s. These two legends are the debut artists for Blue Room Sounds.

Ajja (Ajja Leu) is a world-famous Psy-trance producer based in Switzerland. He is an eclectic artist who channels his creativity as a savant, running multiple careers as musician/producer, Peak Records label manager, and renowned graphic artist. His much appreciated live sets, fusing his twisted psy-experience with a love of funky grooves, fusing his twisted psy-experience with a love of funky grooves, have made him a fixture in major festivals and parties worldwide. We are honored to debut a worldwide exclusive for his first-ever remix and huge floor filler.

Entrancing dub and body-moving uptempo electronic opuses are the Living Light sound hallmarks, blending global beats, swirling symphonic melodies, and a dash of psychedelia lit up audiences coast to coast. Eartha Harris officially launched her Living Light project in 2012, having spent half a decade behind the keyboards in the pioneering live electronic hybrid Psylab. The Living Light sound strikes a balance between uptempo dance with a psydub focus. The perfect comedown for the earth-shaking CHANGE IS COMING.
