 FLOAT is a group formed by singer/songwriter/guitarist Hotma “Meng” Roni Simamora & guitarist Windra “Bontel” Benyamin. It all started in late January 2003 when Bontel as producer offered Meng an opportunity to make his own solo album.

After some delays Bontel phoned Meng and asked him if he agreed to transform his solo album project as a band. And he did. The project then continued and Raymond Agus Saputra joined in. On August 30, 2004 Meng offered three names and FLOAT was voted the best name as it reflected the band's emphasis on freedom of expression and their overall approach to making music.

Their EP “No-Dream Land” was then released in January 2005. The music attracted filmmaker Mira Lesmana to the band and she asked them to make music to her movie “3 Hari Untuk Selamanya”. The album was released in 2007.

In early 2008 each member of the group decided to run their own project and Meng continues FLOATPROJECT with his new songs. One of them titled “Waltz Musim Pelangi” has been released in the album “Songs Inspired by Laskar Pelangi” (MILES MUSIC).

Blues is a manifesto of the heart’s voice. When human rights are oppressed, liberty robbed, or democracy stained, it becomes a seeping language breaking through foolishness and speechlessness.

This condition is a response to abysmal political conspiracies and human rights violations in Indonesia. Not to mention exposed corruption cases of infrastructure developments by politicians, tax grafts, migrant worker harassment, bribery among the judicial officials, judges, and law enforcers right up to the attacks in the name of a particular religion.  

Blues is a retaliating language against arrogance, expressing the freedom of the soul to so that it is free to:

1. believe in any religion
2. live a respectful life
3. express itself
4. roam without fear.
Blues is a medium to shout out clearly the rights for democracy which is no longer the possession of every citizen of the freed Indonesia, despite the diversity.

Blues For Freedom, is an Antara Journalistic Photo Gallery. 

Blues adalah manifesto ungkapan suara hati. Ketika hak asasi tertindas, saat kemerdekaan terenggut, manakala demokrasi ternoda, maka Blues menjadi bahasa yang menetes tanpa henti untuk memecahkan karang pandir dan kelu. 

Kondisi ini merespon dari berbagai kasus persekongkolan politik yang memuakkan selain pelanggaran HAM yang terjadi di berbagai belahan bumi Indonesia. Terkuaknya kasus korupsi pembangunan infrastruktur oleh politikus, korupsi pajak, pelecehan TKI, suap hakim, jaksa dan aparatur penegak hukum lain, hingga berbagai kasus penyerangan atas nama agama. 

Blues menjadi bahasa perlawanan menentang angkara kepongahan, mengekspresikan kebebasan jiwa agar: 
1. Merdeka untuk beragama 
2. Merdeka utuk hidup layak 
3. Merdeka untuk berekspresi 
4. Merdeka dari rasa takut 

Blues menjadi medium untuk meneriakkan dengan lantang hak demokrasi yang tak lagi milik warga negara Indonesia yang merdeka.
