Written mostly as a writing exercise to involve some chords I avoid playing!  I ended up with two lyrical hooks 'caught out on love' and 'I don't even feel love any more' - I wasn't going to stick with them until someone at an open mic said the whole song made a lot of sense to them personally - so I decided not to change a thing.  Because I'm a prog rock fan I decided to end with a prog style code.

Gentle rock ballad influenced heavily by 'Afterglow' by Genesis and not unlike 'Shipwrecked' off Calling All Stations (which my song predates!).

More Than Love For You

Blurring the line between progressive rock and bossa nova , the song Swept Away finds Tony Banks of Genesis in soundtrack mode wondering whether a song like 'Windmills of Your Mind' could fit onto the 'And Then There Were Three' album.  Meanwhile Michel Legrand is working in the opposite direction....  Written in 1996 by Neil Haigh.  Arranged and recorded by Mike Lockett (vocals and keyboards) and Dave Lockett (guitars and basses).

Swept Away

Pop/RnB style song written as a response to 'Dilemma' by Nelly & Kelly and using my own particular chord flavouring! The key to the song is in the close-out harmony section - I had lots of fun singing that.  The drums are arranged in Phil Collins style circa 1980s - very dynamic and 'heavy' although I actually prefer a lighter fusion style in the drums - I'd like to rework the song in the fusion genre if only I could!   That needs real chops!


Found Out (Your Dilemma)

This is an alternative version of Swept Away arranged for piano and trying to get into the Claus Ogerman zone.  I used a Phil Collins style approach to the drum arrangement, normally I prefer his fusion style playing rather than the 'hard style' he used from the 80s onwards.  I think Phil Collins always wanted to work with Claus Ogerman - so in my head I joined them in the studio to see what might be done.  Dream on - always.

Frozen Wave

Wishing Well combines a guitar instrumental from Simon Davis with a vocal/lyric  in the tail section that expresses an important sentiment I carry with me.  That sentiment is inspired by the writing of Genesis (especially Tony Banks) circa Wind & Wuthering era.

Not The Same (demo)

Blueside - independent songwriter musician and sometime rock concert promoter.   Blueside play adult rock passed through a contemporary filter featuring cool chords, 12 string guitars and guitar atmospherics. Its a slightly indie take on classic rock and influenced by jazz samba (boss nova chords).
