Locked Out Of Heaven

I wrote a barbershop inspired arrangement of the end of Goodnight, My Someone, from Meredith Wilson's The Music Man. The chords do not adhere to the rules of barbershop in several places, but overall the lead sings the melody, tenor and bass harmonize above and below, and the baritone completes the chord with awkward half steps and fourth intervals as usual.

A multitrack barbershop tag of Good Night, Sweetheart. I became an official member of the BHS, joined a local chorus and formed a new quartet in the last week. Someone I know is fond of this song, and I have the score so...I rewrote it how I wanted it and recorded that instead. 

I intend to multitrack the whole song, but that'll be a while yet.

Sang this with my quartet a while ago and we all got shivers. Took me two weeks to wake up with a low G to get that bass track down - and while I was had the low note, double tracked it for good measure.

This song is harder than I thought. All parts double tracked. I swear that the chord on 'heart' is as written in the Barberpole Cat Book, as strange as it sounds. Some of the chords right before that one, clearly not entirely in tune. Maybe I'll do a better take someday.

I fell in love with the idea of multi-tracking a'capella music ten years ago, when I could barely sing. Joined a small church choir and started to develop some skills. All of my early attempts were pitchy and badly synced. While I'm a tolerable soloist these days, I know my harmony tracks need a lot of improvement. Every project has been better tuned and synced than the last, so hang around and maybe it'll be good someday soon.
