Whytwo 'Cyclical' [Blu Mar Ten Music]

Glasgow-based imo-Lu draws upon her background in piano improvisation and choir singing to bring rich, atmospheric musical textures to the forefront of her drum and bass production. She is inspired by all things harmonically dense yet subtle and restrained; she builds her DJ sets around this sound as well as her original music. With a small handful of releases under her belt, imo-Lu has established herself as a promising up-and-comer in the UK drum and bass scene.

There were many contenders for the runner-up slot but we finally settled on Law & Wheeler’s remix. A lovely re-imagining of the classic Boymerang / Doc Scott Blue Note sound with a great, up-to-date level of production that triggered all our favourite memories. This was a very, very close contender for overall winner, in fact we debated back and forth about it for almost a week. Of all the remixes, this one will stay in our bag for gigs the longest.

Oliver Huntemann returns with the second single from his fifth album 'Propaganda', the first album he has released in six years via is own label Senso Sounds.

Titled 'Poltergeist', the new tune is charming with its simplistic sounds that slowly evolve into a dirty groovy funk, with jolting percussion sounds and edgy beats — it's a bold track ready to set floors across the world on fire.

If you're a fan of the Hamburg-based producer, you've got the chance to catch him in action next month. He'll be live and direct from DJ Mag's London HQ  on 11th October as part of our DJ Mag's Panel Sessions.
