This is an original song written by Michael Sellers in which it is imagined that William Shakespeare is telling the story of how be became successful and famous as a playwright. Although the title ends with "and all is true", the only true thing we know is that we don't know how much is true. Much of Shakespeare is still a mystery. Many have speculated he was gay; a few have put forward the proposition that the writer of these plays was in fact a woman, and William Shakespeare a front man, given women were not encouraged to write for or perform on the stage. Consequently, the second verse can be understood in more than one way. Whatever you believe, Shakespeare is probably best explained by one of his own quotes: "All the world's a stage ... and one man in his time plays many parts ...".
