An artist of versatility and skill, Viken considers music to be foremost a mirror of his emotions, not limiting himself to a single musical universe. Since he was young, he’s explored all various types of musical styles which he’s merged, and composes based solely off his mood. His mastery of the piano, and an attained degree at music school, has supplied him with a formal background in musical culture, and an undeniable ease which has enabled him to develop artistic creations ranging from Jazz through music for films, classical works, up until electronic music which he’s been experimenting with for the past 13 years.

For this first release, Viken offers two pieces which borderline between minimal, electronica and deep house. Supported by the maintenance for a constant harmony, the rhythm throughout 'Nostalgie' and 'Addiction' is embellished with refined and magnificently crafted beats. When most come to a halt entering that which is unexplored and uncertain, Viken succeeds with brilliance : marrying coherence and traditional melodic charm, not to mention "symphonies" of clearly electronic-oriented beats composed from original and unique sounds. The influence of the ‘Greats’ in regards to contemporary music at a broad sense can easily be deciphered when listening to Viken’s work : names like Erik Satie and Acid Pauli come first to mind.

Berlin producer Nico Stojan, pillar to bar 25 and Germany’s deep/tech-house scene, took on his own spin to the title Addiction. What emerges is a dynamite version with immaculate percussions enhanced by a nonchalant bass.

The other title of the EP, ‘Nostalgie’ is remixed by another producer across the Rhine, Paul Chriske, aka Powel. Both ascending from Berlin’s deep-house scene, Paul has everything to become legendary : a signature sound recognizable amongst 100s, an experienced drummer, etc. From the remix emerges a complete reconfiguration of the track, centralized around the use of the piano. Powel totally reworks the bass, an atypical speciality done by the use of his ‘paw’, the captivating atmosphere he scatters throughout the track via sounds deriving straight from the depths of Berlin.

YOO we made a remix for Kerri Chandler, one of the most influential and prolific artists of soulful and deep dance music. We tried to keep the spirit of the original track from 1996, while using instruments from back in the day (Roland JX-1, drum computers) and adding our own touch. The remix is coming out on King Street Sounds on 20th May, the infamous house label from NYC we bought records from when we were 16. Hallelujah!

"Kerri 'Kaoz' Chandler one of deep house music's originators, has been injecting soul into music since the early nineties. An ambassador of the natural and instinctive 4/4 beat, Kerri's influences can be traced back to New Jersey growing up in a family of jazz musicians. His father being a respected deejay, provided Kerri with a rich background in the origins of soul, disco and the New York Underground Sound (known also as "Garage" music). Accompanying his father to the gigs, Kerri began playing records at the Rally Record Club in East Orange, New Jersey at the tender age of thirteen. Exposed to such musical creativity, it wasn't long before Kerri found himself interested in production. 

Since the signing of his first single "SuperLover/Get It Off" by Atlantic in 1991, Kerri began producing a prolific body of work that has helped coin him one of the most respected house producers in the world. This has been achieved by remaining true to his style. When listening to tracks such as the "Atmosphere EP" on Shelter Records and the seminal, "A Basement, Redlight and A Feeling" album on Madhouse, one has to marvel at Kerri's ability to not compromise his unique sound for commercial gain. A spiritual man, Kerri prays before making a record. Each project is an attempt to inject his free spirit into a groove. In the expanses of his breaks the odd counter rhythm will inexplicably appear for a second and then disappear, creating fleshy excitement, not mechanical repetition. His now legendary bass-lines go from heavy and heady to playful and quirky while remaining deliriously intoxicating. His fusions, clamped to the beat of his unique thundering kick drum, redefine house music at every turn. His hooks are loving details, paying attention to horn hits, washes of synthesizers, and catchy choruses creating songs with brutal drive. A believer in peace and harmony, Kerri blames soulful house's positive vibes for its failure to make it commercially, as its openness to influences are difficult for many to accept.

Kerri is fascinated by technology and its application to creativity. He has built his own studio and spends hours creating new EFX units and sound machines. Taking a fearless leap into millennium technology, he has recently innovated new tools and employed creative ideas designed to revolutionize the way we think of traditional deejay mixing. Kerri uses his deejay sets to inject a spirit into the dance floor. More than a mere deejay spinning records, his sets are "live" during which he remixes tracks whenever he can by incorporating keyboards, vocalists, percussionists, guitars, violins, horns, projector screens, laser synths or just his own excellent soulful voice. Armed with a lap top computer, thousands of MP3 files, his own handmade mini-mixer and a cutting-edge imagination, Kerri has been wowing audiences around the globe while inspiring debate and envy in top industry circles about his new toys.

Kosovan Sabb and Spaniard Cuartero are a pair of producers who have not only their own respected 
discographies, but who have also been turning heads with their collaborative works on labels like Noir Music. 
The result of that partnership spawned tracks like “Don’t You Know” which Moon Harbour boss Matthias 
Tanzmann has not been afraid of playing plenty of times this year, and as such he welcomes the pair to his 
label for their first release, Don’t Kill My Vibe, complete with remixes from Chris Wood and Meat. 
The title track is a churning, spacious tech house groove peppered with perfectly placed hi hats. Building 
infectiously towards a peak of nimble melodies and filtered vocals, it’s a perfectly balanced, feathery track 
that will sweep up and lock in place dancefloors like DC 10 without any worries at all. 
The first remix from Frankfurt tech house innovator Chris Wood and his local Souvenir associate Meat is a 
much more full blooded and energetic affair. The loops are fleshed out with bubbling basslines and shooting 
diva cries as well as plenty of sci-fi synth details in the background, fun yet functional it’s designed for 
maximum dancing pleasure. 
The same pair provide a second remix of the same track, this one goes much deeper, staying locked in a 
rubber but funky kick drum pattern whilst layering up chord stabs, spitting drum hits and the original’s dark 
male vocal into a catchy patchwork of sound that constantly ducks and dive and will make you do the same. 
It’s back to Sabb & Cuartero then for the other original, “Front or Back”. There’s plenty of fine grain texture to 
the track which has buffed metal surfaces and a keen machine funk on display throughout. The silvery hi 
hats dangle invitingly above a punchy kick drum that hits left and right like a champion boxer. Loopy but lose, 
anthemic without being obvious, it’s a restrained tech house workout that causes maximum damage, 
especially when the horns go off in the latter half. 
Sabb & Cuartero then are a welcome addition to the Moon Harbour stable with a unique take on tech that will 
surely see them grow in stature ever more in the second half of 2013
