The Blur Podcasts return to present the German DJ and producer - Simon Hinter. 

Having begun his career in the 90's producing hip-hop and deejaying and scratching, he has developed over the years into a prolific electronic music producer with releases on labels such as Freerange Records, Quintessentials, Morris Audio, Madhouse Records, Just Move Records, Hafendisko, Defected and many others.

One to not care about musical rules or principles, Simon Hinter is serious about his music being his alone, and allowing him to do whatever he wants, whenever. 

Citing influences such as hip-hop, soul, jazz, funk and rare soundtracks of the sixties and seventies, he identifies himself primarily as a producer, although DJing and his love for these soulful tunes from the past have been cemented in him since an early age.

For all these reasons and many more, we are very proud to present for the first time at the 40th edition of the Blur Podcasts - Simon Hinter - which is now live on our Youtube and Soundcloud pages.

Since his debut album ‘Audiodidact’ dropped 2016, he has been in a state of subtle evolution and growth. His sound palette has grown and his musical curiosity has seen him arrive in a place that is not strictly rooted in House, Electronica, Afro nor Jazz but rather a combination of all these musical spaces in which he has quietly built a new collection of songs he is calling ‘Window Curtains’.

The album is a warm, introspective journey best enjoyed as the title suggests: sitting nice and cosy in a safe space while peering outside into the world beyond as the subtle groove, melody and harmony of Vicmari’s musical wonderings encourage you to let your mind drift away.

A culmination of a 3 year period of creativity and exploration in the dubbed-out soundscapes and warm harmonics that set the tone throughout this thoughtful album, his music has taken him beyond his hometown with collaborations with artists such as songstress Boskasie, Matthew Garton from Good Thinking Music where he recorded Congolese drummer Dieumerci Tshimanga, Nigerian guitarist Akinwale James and local bassist and producer Jerome Bezuidenhout. The album also features collabs with Angel D and Hörschwelle as well as 2 remixes from NY-based Brendon Moeller.

The emergence of a career as organic and natural as Vicmari’s is rare anywhere in the world, let alone KwaDabeka township in Durban, South Africa, where his relatively humble beginnings forged a sound that is not only unique but also true to his background, true to his story and true to where he is headed.

Michał Zakrzewski aka DYYU∩E is a DJ, producer, record collector and radio host (WYYDMA vinyl only radio show for Radio Luz) from Wrocław in Poland. With a few vinyl releases under his belt (solo tracks and edits for The Very Polish Cut Outs and with Boryn as Astro Buhloone for Astropical Tapes) he is crate digger looking for unexpected sounds from all around the world. His selection for Radio Electronica Jena is focused on records from Germany - mostly sung in German language and done by German artists or recorded there (or both). DYYU∩E is closely affiliated with The Very Polish Cut Outs label, making edits, remixes and playing dj sets on the label parties. His debut album for TVPCO is coming soon and should be out late 2021/early 2022.

Blur Records returns to present the debut of the rising South African duo - Aquadeep & Veesoul - and their three-track EP entitled "Need Your Love".

A house music duo originating from the south of Johannesburg initially formed around 2015, they are known for their distinctive sound around soulful and deep house.

Having worked in the past with several record labels in South Africa such as Lamor Music, Deep Obsessions Records, Moish Records, Do It Now Recordings, House Afrika Records and many others, their latest tracks have been playing non-stop on radio stations around the country including YFM and 5FM.

The first track entitled "Need Your Love", is a superbly executed production, packed with intricate details, and a hypnotic chord from start to finish. Abstract and spacious it gets all the condiments right to create a well-constructed and compelling lofi track.

Next is "Coffee Shop", a fantastically well-executed high-end oriented track, impressing the listener with its continuous chord progressions and playful synthesizers, driven in its nature and complementing the minimalistic drums.

Closing up the EP is "Take Me Away", a minimalistic oriented track, succeeding brilliant with its contagious funky bassline and pulsating synths. The driving drums, and artfully selected percussion, counterweights the heaviness of this well polished track.

Blur Records is proud to present the prolific Colombian DJ, producer and sound engineer - Joint4Nine - and his four-track EP entitled "My Feelings For U".
Based in Bogotá, the co-founder of the electronic music duo Rush City and record label Nómada has worked in the past with several record labels such as Sengiley Wax, Masterworks Music, GLBDOM, Apparel Wax and many others, with his music reaching all corners of the world including Luanda, Angola.
The first track entitled "Deep In Love" is a patchwork of cross-genres and moods, bouncing along with a funky bassline, artfully selected percussion, and a killer pitched vocal to bring it all together.
next is "It's All About House'', a 90s drenched acid track, instantly recognized for its libidinous bass, providing the gritty anchor to the track and counterweighting the lightness of the synth work.

The third track "Start Time", is a naked drums groove, with a jumpy bassline and undulating layers of percussion, that balance perfectly with the arpeggiated synths deepening the groove.

To close the release we have "This Rave Feeling", a rolling and percussive groove machine, with dense rich textures and a psychedelic chord stab enveloping the old school drum machines.
