Fred Aster ( @fredastermusic ) has been cementing his name in the underground deep house & electronic eclectic scene via his own, and acclaimed, production work, radio host duties and by leading one of the best African labels within the genre, Blur Records - an Angolan electronic music label established in 2018 that spinned-off from signature events showcasing an array of international artists. 

A few days ago we reached out to Fred offering our humble Guest MIX space for this month. His receptiveness was immediate and it’s really a pleasure to have him as the host of our 19th feature. Breathing and exhaling the best of jazzy, melodic and groovy house textures, he presents a hour of pure class. The selection is beyond fantastic, approaching the sounds of loads of talented producers that have releasing diamonds to nurture us.

Fred Aster is based in Luanda, Angola 🇦🇴  and knows a thing or two about deep house. From a production standpoint he has released on labels such as Rewind & DOBRO with a signature low key jazz infused sound. He also heads up Blur Records, a label which he formulated in 2019. Over the past 4 years Blur have released music from deep house heavyweights such as Joint4Nine, Tree Threes, Iner, Vicmari & DJ Windows 7

Fred also hosts an incredible monthly deep house radio show on Germanys 🇩🇪 very own Radio Electronica. His show is titled 'Luanda Underground' and it explores the best new deep house releases. Its one of our favourite shows and we always check it as soon as it drops so make sure you do too

Grooveology 008 | Fred Aster

Blur Records is thrilled to unveil the exceptional 4 track EP by the gifted producer Doktor Yok!, titled "Yok Makaryok", which showcases his innovative approach to music, by combining Garage, Disco, and House and pushing the boundaries of genre-blending to new and exhilarating heights.

The first track entitled "B.C.G." is immediately recognized by its old-school drum machine, sampling style, featuring a distinctive flute, pacey percussion and a driving stab bass, in a classic display of quintessential disco sound.

"Uknow" follows, enveloping you in its UK garage rhythm, with pulsating basslines and chopped-up vocals leaving you in a suspended state of sonic bliss. Doktor Yok!'s attention to detail and mastery of sampling and sound design shine through, making "Uknow" a standout in any musical set.

The third track, "Break It", is a high-energy composition keeping in line with the garage sounds that characterize this EP, by featuring infectious grooves and dynamic arrangements that are tailor-made for the dancefloor, with its seductive percussions and growling disengaged bassline.
