Jesus came to save us and set us free because He loves us. In order for us to know what He set us free from we need to know the truth. The condition of the human heart is the most unfortunate aspect of our nature, however because of God's unconditional love toward us it is also the most beautiful thing.

The realisation of the fact that our hearts are wickedly deceitful (Jer 17:9) is the very fuel that pushes us straight into the arms of our Saviour. We need Him desperately and the magnificence of the situation is He saw our plight and He came. 

Even though we hate Him, sin against Him and curse His name - He came. As mighty King He left His stately position, became a lowly person like us and ultimately gave His very life to save us! How amazing.

This is real love - not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins. ~1 John 4:10
