Ragged Peace

This is skeleton music, and these are skeleton songs… BMK was born out of having little time to play, but much music to make! The band’s sound, light yet full acoustic strings, deep bass and lyrics from another time, was forged in the quickly dying fires of single nights. Loose, unfinished, yet somehow raggedly complete, Skeleton music had been born. Brisbane based, BMK have been playing together now for a number of years, all material original and penned by songwriter Bernie Courtney, underwritten by the emotionally charged guitar of Mark Stevenson and signed off by the pulsating bass of Ken Phillips. The music, conceived quickly, has a jagged edge of rust, but a cutting edge of a blade that flashes so fast you hardly have time to see it. Each band member brings a love of music to each song, from Mark Stevenson’s influences including The Doors and the guitar playing of Tommy and Phil Emmanuelle, to Ken Phillips’ roots that include the music of Led Zeppelin and Ritchie Blackmore, to Bernie Courtney’s more folkish love of words and the poetics of Cohen and Dylan, music runs deep in their veins. Together, they hope that these influences combine to produce, through words and sounds, something that is somewhat unique …. They hope you enjoy their skeleton music and their skeleton songs…
