A very active night in the red fox forest. Probably close to their mating season now since both the male and female ran around calling over large tracts. Here you can mostly hear the male. In the background tawny owl.

2025.09.13 Golden Whistler. Ngarkat Dawn. Early Spring.

A wide and deep, gently rhythmically hypnotic, mallee heathland dawn, from an evening to morning recording made with a mid-side rig utilising an omnidirectional mid microphone. (Relaxed listening with good quality headphones with flat frequency response, especially open-backed, at a moderate volume, is ideal.)

2025.09.13 Ngarkat Dawn. Early Spring.

I was in Estonia recently to check-out Matsalu National park to learn as much as I could about it before maybe returning in May to record.  It was the wrong time of year to record birds, however back in the city I recorded some street sounds on my last evening.  Equipment; A Sound Devices MixPre3 recorder and a matched pair of Primo microphones.  Recording 4476.
