Dawn chorus

Although on the decline (?) there are still quite many Ural Owls breeding in Uppland. In the end of this recording you will hear when the male comes with food to the female and young. They are quite vocal in mid-May in the very early morning hours. This is a passive recording, I would not dare stand so close to Ural Owls otherwise. Really aggressive at their nests. During the night a Tawny Owl came too close and was chased off by the Urals. 220517

Passive recording on a clearcut just west of Uppsala from 8PM June 5 to 6 AM June 6, 2022. The morning chorus dominated by blackcap and songthrush, in the background cuckoo and redbacked shrike. At dusk a pair of pygmy owls called.

Night canoeing to listen for birds active during the night. Started 21:00 at Wiik Castle, SW Uppsala, and paddled west to Örsundsbro. Back at Wiik 01:00, June 15, 2022. A distance of 18 km. Birds in the order they appear in the recording: reed warbler, bittern, wood sandpiper, mute swan, cuckoo, spotted redshank, savi's warbler, sedge warbler, grasshopper warbler, marsh warbler, quail, common snipe, thrush nightingale, (beaver), savi's warbler, spotted crake, common gull, tawny owl.

Magic Mountain - Crocodile Hippies

Nothing special here just a microphone sticking out the window to capture some of that storm winds thru the trees at the top of the garden. The microphones were mostly sheltered from the wind so this is not a wind demonstration of the Radius Mini-alto at all. I'm sure it would have struggled otherwise but still, I did have a few gusts of wind hit the windshield and it did just as well as my Rycote WS1's  would have so I'm happy.
