Nu när hösten tagit ett stadigt grepp om landet återkommer Gullet och Widde efter en sommar och tidig höst lika späckade med upplevelser som alltid. Det blir prat om allt från skog och mesar till havets liror, och lite mer om den nya upplagan av "Hur många-boken" såklart. Gullet har träffat Harald Ris för att prata om pågående forskning kring fågelflyttning och delar med sig av betraktelser från våren och sommaren som gick.

Autumn Night Under Slovenian Alps – Owls and Falling Rocks from Cliffs

An electronic, organic, and acoustic sound exploration.

After their first collaboration in 2022 with the EP Maa Kuuluu, Vinzoo and Qosqi reunite for a new, sensitive and atmospheric project: SU FO, a subtle blend of electronic textures and live instruments.

This 5-track EP offers an introspective journey where machines converse with matter. Between enveloping synthetic layers, soft percussions and finely integrated acoustic instruments, each piece constructs an immersive atmosphere, halfway between the intimate and the dreamlike but still anchored in reality. Machines and instruments speak to each other in a sensitive, sometimes minimalist, always sincere language.

Far from the strict codes of a genre, SU FO draws a free line, somewhere between downtempo and electro-organic. It's an invitation to relax, to deep listening. Each piece weaves a link between human and environment, with hybrid styles that escape labels. This project invites an inner journey, a gentle drift, and attentive listening.

With a consistently sincere and artisanal approach, Vinzoo & Qosqi affirm their artistic partnership, combining refined sound design and acoustic spontaneity. An EP to listen to in one go, with headphones on or as a suspended moment in the background. Between machines and materials, SU FO tells a moving story.

En ce début d’automne les troupeaux sont redescendus des alpages et le Cerf (Cervus elaphus) anime lui aussi les vallées. Dès la tombée du jour son brame retentit depuis les clairières.

As autumn begins, cattle and sheep have returned from their mountain pastures and red deer (Cervus elaphus) also roam the valleys. At dusk, their bellowing echoes from the clearings.

Late autumn at the Adishi glacier.

Capturing the clean and quality sound of the glacier presents its unique challenges to overcome. One is the logistics and fitness of even reaching such a place, as they are mostly in high, remote mountains. Another is reaching the suitable area of the glacier, which is huge and presents a very demanding terrain that takes you time and energy to get to. Most easy access is at the front of it, the tounge where the ice ends, yet that is where the water comes running out of under the glacier. So in order to avoid the noise of the rushing water, I needed to reach a more upper stage of it, by following it along the edge. That presents another difficulty as the edges of a mountain are "eaten" by the glacier therefor they are completely crumbling and unstable with a high chance of collapse. You can hear stones falling down continuously. When finally reaching this narrow edge, I managed to come closer to the heart of this ice monster. This is where I was able to capture the ice avalanches and rock falls from much closer and farther away from the noise of the river. You can feel the vibrations and low rumble frequencies. Standing so close to it and witnessing its process is very different from anything else; it somehow feels like something extraterrestrial, something we are never used to witnessing in our lives. Yet it is a whole complex system by itself, existing there, doing its thing, basically just water.
