Today I'm celebrating 34 years of marriage with my beloved, Barb. I'm reminded the more I'm able to reflect Christ's character, the better I will be able to love and encourage her. Today we celebrate the simple things of our relationship, anchored together in Christ, to blossum for His glory. This song, a reflection of Christ, is a result of her support and love.

The debate that ensued around the campfire drove them to verify what they had been told. That night, they became a part of one fo the most extrodinary events the world had ever seen.

We live in a world where many people struggle with disruptions to their lives by events that, in many respects, are outside their own control. We understand life through experiences. Often there are mysteries in the way the world works around us. We don't always understand how a single seed can produce so much more from the plant that sprouts. In that image is a reflection of truth, of what life can really be all about. There is purpose and value in giving up, in sacrifice, where freedom is found in the gift of new life.

A Seed

Being out in the wilderness in the evening around a campfire is a wonderful time of reflection and refreshment. It gives pause to the busy details of life. The warmth and light draws our focus, but gradually it will die down. How the fire is tended makes a difference in its quality. The same is true of life. The Lord's Prayer not only can be recited, but also provides an outline of how we can pray. On what should we focus? It is drawing our attention toward the issues and values that God desires in our lives. This outline can drive us to pray about the things that really matter.
