Queensland singer songwriter Bobby Maguire has released his heaviest track yet with hard hitting single ‘Vigilante’. This high energy rocker is accompanied by a hilarious video clip featuring some of Cairns’ most notorious characters. 
Inspired by a less than favourable experience with authorities ‘Vigilante’ is an intricately deceptive combination of musical elements pulling together to raise a fun middle finger to anyone and everyone.

Produced by Kris Hutchinson at The Studio Hutch and mastered by the illustrious Danny Bryan ‘Vigilante’ is another of Bobby Maguire’s homegrown projects utilizing Cairns professionals including painter Hayley Gillespie, drummer Naoki Kimpara, actor Jayden Maguire and former AFP ‘Sniffer Bogan’ Sunny Day.

As well as cooking up new tunes Bobby Maguire and his band have been sweating away in the rehearsal studio preparing to hit the stage with plenty more to come in 2022.

Bobby Maguire blends dark passion, thick bass and soaring vocals to create his latest single‘Taken My Place’. This enigmatic indie rock track delves into deep minimalist verses before bursting into chorus’ of ethereal synth and shining harmonies.

A dynamic song inspired by artists like The Cure and  U2 ‘Taken My Place’ is a constant push and pull between day and night. The lyrics speak of obsession, rage and love as the music ranges from  tense, subdued verses to rich chorus’.  

‘Taken My Place’ was created entirely in Cairns produced by Kris Hutchinson at The Studio Hutch featuring local artists Naoki Kimpara (Drums) and Katie Richards (Backing Vocals) with the music video made by Bobby Maguire and Skye Simpson.

Bobby Maguire blends outrage and disillusion with driving bass and colourful melody to create his latest release ‘Sold Our Future’.

Inspired by artists like The Cure and The Pixies ‘Sold Our Future’ balances darker themes with satire and upbeat energy. Minimalist verses burst into punchy, melodic chorus’s building throughout the song to a final crescendo.

‘Sold Our Future’ is another one of Bobby Maguire’s homegrown projects using only talent from Cairns, Far North Queensland including producer Kris Hutchinson of The Studio Hutch, Naoki Kimpara on drums and artwork by Hayley Gillespie.

'Fight the Fear' is a raucous punk track with an aggressive edge and catchy simplicity. Inspired by bands like Nirvana and Violent Soho 'Fight the Fear' is the heaviest track on the album in contrast to its poppy precursors 'Moving to the City' and 'Home' which gives the listener a taste of the musical roller-coaster they have just embarked on.

Moving to the City is a poppy, chirpy track, and it’s pretty hard not to smile as the honest, uplifting lyrics play out.  It’s refreshing to allow this acoustic guitar-driven track to wash over and perhaps reminisce about moving from a childhood home to a college dorm or first sharehouse.  It’s sentimental, but fun, and exudes enthusiasm and anticipation, as Bobby explains, “Moving to the City was inspired by bands like The Cure and The Kooks, it deals with the loss of a past life as well as growth and a need to move forward with a new chapter. I wrote this song as a form of encouragement for myself to embrace this new journey.”

Inspired by fellow Queensland rockers Violent Soho, 'Exoskeleton' is a fiery song written and produced in lock-down. This upbeat track features thick guitar riffs, angsty vocals and a chorus you will be singing well before the end. It is a fitting release to celebrate Bobby Maguire and his band returning to the stage after a Covid-forced hiatus. Fans also have the option to pay what they want for the song via Bandcamp.com
