A live recording form the first Back in the Day daytime party, in not so sunny LA, Stoke-on-Trent, and what a day it was!

I tried to capture some of the sounds of Ibiza in days gone by, and the intro is a nod to DJ Alfredo, the originator of the Balearic Beat, who often played the Pink Panther theme when mixing between different genres in the nightclubs of Ibiza in the 1980's and 90's.

A snapshot from the after party of a day celebrating the "Raves of Longton", Shelley's, Entropy and Introspective, the clubs that changed the face of Dance music in the early 90's. A time when Longton, one of the Five Towns of Stoke-on-Trent, became the epicentre of the Acid House revolution. 

There's a few pops and scratches on these old records, and production was not as slick as it is today......... sorry.......not sorry!

The Golden Massive turned out in force to celebrate the legendary club of the 90's, on Saturday 25/1/25, at The Underground, Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent, just a stone's throw from where The Void nightclub once stood.
Quite simply, an astonishing atmosphere at this unbelievably good party, nobody does it better!

Saturday 28/6/25 saw the Back in the Day team’s kit launch event, at the Fan Zone of Stoke City FC Stadium. A family friendly Saturday afternoon in glorious sunshine, with free beer!

Stoke City billed the event as the “Spirit of ’92” invoking the colours of the football strips from 33 years ago, and the tunes throughout the day were all from the early 90’s.

60 Shades of Grey, 16/7/25

Alison & Maisie had a lovely party at the rather swanky Keele Hall, a stately home built by the same guy who built Windsor Castle.

Here is a snapshot of what was played on the night. It’s the beginning, and the end of the night, glued together, missing the three hours or so in-between. Many of the selections were made by the girls prior to the event, and a few of them are included here. There’s a secret track at the end too……..

It’s a memento of the occasion for those who were there.

Here’s half of last night’s party, lovely people, at a lovely venue, overlooking Trentham Lake.

It’s the start of the party, as the sun went down, and the final hour or so, tacked on the end, as the party drew to a close...........

The challenge was to try and include some of the party favourites that the girls had given me, in a playlist that was over six hours long, at a party that lasted for five hours……. Miraculously, many of them are included here, along with a few of those old Bob’s Disco classics, to make the party go with a swing!

Amazingly, she made it to 50!

And what a celebration it was at the brewery! An apt venue if ever there was one! A piss up in a brewery!

A stellar line up of wOnK’s finest, with Amy & Ocean, followed by the inimitable, and Balearic as it gets, Kelvin Andrews, the God Father of House Music in Stoke-on-Trent, and way beyond!

And then there was me! The birthday girl had decided that we were going back to the 90’s, to the glory days of Venus, and Golden, and so here it is…….. warts an’ all! Make of it what you will! But please, make some noise!

This mix, amazingly, starts, and ends, with a track of the same name, but each considerably different from the other! The first, is a certain someone’s favourite tune! And the last one, is everyone else’s! 

Is there anybody out there? Who knows? 

These tunes are from a lifetime ago! But still resonate from those who were there…… back in the day……..

And, as I was feeling festive……… there’s a secret track….or even two…..tagged on the end…..

Nadine's 50! 8/11/25

Me & Karn have been getting away with it since the early 90’s, and the very start of Golden, and the Super Club era……..

I’ve played more After Parties than most, over the years, so when Karn & Louise tied the knot, in the sunshine, a few weeks ago, it was inevitable I’d get the call for this one, and it’s joy to see them so happy!

I’ve never been asked to play “Handbag” before, I think it references those anthemic House tracks from the 90’s, but when you see the girls flood the dance floor, you realise it’s a pretty good shout!
All these tracks are tremendously popular for good reason!

Here’s my bit, between the sausage rolls, and the inimitable Pete Bromley, who rounded the night off in his usual accomplished style.

I’ve sneaked in a secret track, tagged on the end, which is the one that was asked for, but I didn’t get chance to play…….

A live stream for the gig that never was, half a million views on the day, and over £6,000 raised for the warriors of the NHS!

Bob's Disco has been playing records to an audience for what feels like for ever! A former terminal vinyl junkie, gained the moniker after playing far too many after-hours parties in the 80's and 90's!
Bob's Disco plays an eclectic mix of everyone's records from the last 50 years or so. Striving to play something different, not for the sake of it, but because of it. Joining the dots between Soul, Hip Hop, Disco and House.........
