Singer-Songwriter Bob Spring just released his second album named „Dust And Arrows“ in May 2014. No squiggles, no moaning, sober but still melodic. The new album of last year’s Krokus opening act sounds like summer, granted, a summer with some dark rain clouds in the sky. Nevertheless: The Swiss-Italo-American does his thing, sort of a mix-up of Alternative-Country, Americana and Singer-Songwriter kind of thing. After the album kick off club tour in his country of origin, Bob Spring is coming to the homeland of his heart, the United States of America.

Bob has written and produced an incredible amount of more than 400 songs since he started working on his solo career in 2007. “I am a painstaking songwriter, even though I often find it pretty hard to stay focused.” Furthermore there is one more record Bob recorded with his band “THE CALLING SIRENS” in 2014. The album is expected to be released by early 2015. Even so, touring still is his greatest passion, especially touring the States. This thoroughbred musician already toured the States in 2012 and played shows across the country including New York, Nashville and Los Angeles at well-known venues such as the Hotel Indigo (Nashville, TN) or the Whisky a go-go on Sunset Strip in West Hollywood. 

The USA Tour 2014 kicks-off in October in New York going on through Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Arizona and California. 

Bob Spring will perform an all original set on his own (voice/ guitar) of approximately 1 – 2 Hours depending on the draw.

MIXING
I panned the kick 17 to the left and the snare drum 17 to the right.
The acoustic guitar 69 to the left, the fiddle 36 to the right and the piano 36 to the left. 
I E.Q.-ed everything but I didn't compress everything.
I used a buss compression (I only used the Classic Compressor in this mix by the way.) for the drums (so the first 4 tracks) because in my first mix and first two masters the drums sounded not thight and together (it's like the kick is on 100BPM while the cymbals are on 214BPM or something Smile ).
I also used a compressor on the bass to make it a lot tighter, I love bass
and 'tough' basses.
On acoustic guitar to make it a little louder in the mix without having to distort it or something.
And also one on the vocals to make it stand out a little more,
the vocalist is in my opinion a woman that knows what she is doing and not someone insecure or something.
Reverb only on the dobro because I like the resonance going through a hall or something like that.
Probably this was a big mistake in my first mix,
I am starting to get a little bit handier in reverb (step by step). (I also love the Classic Reverb, it's a little easier to use in my opinion than the Ambience one I used more prominently before.)
Again a delay (guess, guess, ... Classic Delay), I wanted to keep the 'background vocal' coming at you from the right.
And finally a chorus effect (Classic Chorus!) because the electric guitar really fits with that.
When I got the idea of using an 'effect' (no E.Q., compression, ect.) on the electric guitar I was like: 'Yeah, that would sound awesome.'

MASTERING
For mastering I tried to not overdo stuff.
I used a low and high pass, cut some and boosted some. (like around 120Hz, I love that lower 'bassy' region, it's usually the place where earphone speakers start to jump in, so the bass gets a lot clearer (for my ears Angel) on 'smaller' sytems.
No multi-band, only a 'single-band' compressor to make the mix a little thighter and make it sit together a little more.
A saturator (around 0,7 dB), I got used to using it.
A stereo-expander, I tried to hold myself and not overdo it, referenced on both my monitors and headphones to be a little more sure.
Of course a limiter on the end. (I don't know if I am doing it right although, but it doesn't clip after I E.Q.-ed and saturated it and stuff so that's good.)

Each track has been carefully crafted to give every nuance time to evolve in his mind, before releasing it to the world. With a Swiss/Italian/American origin, Bob hones his style to one of his own creation, giving us a unique twist on “Alternative Country”, where he speaks of not only the heart and soul, but real life situations, experiences and observations giving us a first-hand view into the life of a true professional. His journey started at the tender age of five as he took up the violin, but as soon as he discovered his voice, it left him with not only a problem, but a dilemma also, as both elements don’t go together. A choice had to be made, and in Bob’s case it was the right one. Luckily the transition from Violinist to Guitarist was an easy one as the voice was already there. By the age of fifteen, Bob started his first band, but it wasn’t until 2000 that Bob’s success started to shine as the lead singer of a band called “Backwash”, achieving International Recognition, including a record deal with the Houston Texas based label Perris Records.

In 2007 he started his solo-career and since then wrote the incredible amount of more than 600 songs – mostly produced and arranged in his home studio. “I am a painstaking songwriter, even though I often find it pretty hard to stay focused” he describes himself. Bob released his first solo EP “West End EP” (2009) followed by the LP “Run From Death” in June 2013. In May 2014 he released his second full length album named „Dust And Arrows“. October 2014, marked the start of The USA Tour starting in New York, and continued to blaze a trail through Pennsylvania, Maryland, North Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Nevada, Arizona and California which lead to nineteen performances across the United States of America, from small bars in New York City to legendary venues like "The Basement" in Nashville, Tennessee, the WDVX Blue Plate Special Radio show to the Whisky a go go in Hollywood, Los Angeles, California.
