It's all peace and love though, and it knocks hard. Boca is always a champion for the breaks (hence the big drums), "Chew Valley Breaks" is a guitar-laden B-Boy/B-Girl, up rocking jam that will be hitting a breakdance competition any minute now. Of course, Boca throws in some instrumentals, acapella, and a dope remix of "45s" for the DJ to use in their arsenal. They all knock different. It's even more drums, so neck snapping is inevitable. Boca 45 - Down to Mexico

Back In 2018 I was DJ’ing in Liverpool as part of the annual ‘Sound City’ festival. After my set, a group of enthusiastic people approached me and congratulated me and wondered if I’d heard of Cavendish Music, as that’s who they work for. Being a bit of a record digger, I of course knew of the amazing Cavendish Series, from the late 60’s to the early 70’s, as well as the Boosey & Hawkes albums.
One of the cavendish crew, passed me his card and said to get in touch if I was ever around the Kings Cross region of London, to have a hunt into their vaults and see if anything came to fruition
So that’s what I did!
Ever since, my recent projects (Forty Five LP, 2020 Donuts LP & Figure Of Speech LP) have all contained Cavendish/Boosey samples, and the Cavendish team have been a joy to work with.
Consequently, I wanted to create a tribute by making a full record of material using the incredible vintage sound sources from their library of music, whilst putting my Boca 45 spin onto them from my studio in Boogie Down Bristol.
I hope that you enjoy the sonic results here.

The whole thing was amazing & if you get a chance to check it out i would highly reccomend it !

The Trip

Here's a two minute teaser from my LP "Forty Five" it's an album to musically document my Forty Five years on planet earth.

On the album i have collaborated with lots of the people i've previously worked with over the past 20 plus years recording music.

Vocal collaborations come courtesy of Louis Baker (Soul On Top / Move A Mountain) Emskee (Energy Boost / The Roxy) Sergio Pizzorno  from Kasabian (White, Blue & Red) & Gee Ealey who i worked with on Malachai (Lonely) 

Musically i've locked horns with many familiar friends such as DJ Woody, Geoff Barrow, Billy Fuller, Ben Salisbury & many more across the 12 tracks.

The album is a very personal statement. I made the inner collage & wrote the comprehensive sleeve notes breaking down the back ground of each track whilst my teenage twin Sons designed the front Forty Five logo. 

"Forty Five" will be released on July 12th via Mass Appeal Records (home of Nas, DJ Shadow, Run The Jewels etc) but they have granted me permission to sell in advance to customers who have previously bought Boca goodies from me (which is nice of them;) !

I have 300 x strictly LTD Edition copies of the LP which are ONLY available from me on RED wax. 
NB - All of the commercially released vinyl will be on Black wax.

After releasing his semi-autobiographical album ‘Forty-Five’ in 2019, Bristol’s Boca 45 is about to embark on a brand-new project, starting with a new release on the 1st February 2020. His new Donuts series will see 5 limited edition (300 stamped & numbered) coloured vinyl 45s released throughout the year, and he’s kicking things off with the very aptly titled ‘Powerful,’ co-written by and featuring Hannah Williams on vocals.
Delving deep within the world of soul, breakbeat, hip-hop and everything in between, ‘Powerful’ is a real statement of intent from Boca 45, who plans on going in at full pelt from the get-go in 2020. Flexing his studio muscle as of late, the Bristol multi-instrumentalist and producer is demonstrating his unique ability to blend song writing and production in some of freshest sounds around. Featuring gnarly horn lines, percussive stabs and overflowing with groove, the foundations are perfectly laid for Hannah Williams’ undeniably explosive vocals to take charge. It’s no surprise Hannah’s work has been sampled by Jay Z on the Grammy-nominated track ‘4:44,’ or the fact that she’s also worked alongside Tyler The Creator, Guy Chambers and Pete Rock to name a few. On creating ‘Powerful’ with Boca 45, 
Joining ‘Powerful’ on the AA side is ‘Sparky Evans,’ an effortlessly cool vintage hip-hop triumph that will have you moving your feet and nodding your head in no time. With another infectious vocal hook and breaks at their best, this is the perfect package to eliminate those January blues.
It’s now something of the norm for Boca 45 to be working with some of the biggest names in the business. His last album was released on Mass Appeal (home of Nas, J Dilla, DJ Shadow, Run the Jewels amongst many others), and his versatile sound often results in collaborating with a range of talent from across the globe. After kickstarting his brand-new Donuts series with the aptly titled ‘Powerful’ in January (which sold out within a matter of days here) Bristol’s Boca 45 is returning to releasing ways as round 2 beckons. 
With plans to release a collection of 5 limited edition (300 stamped & numbered) coloured vinyl 45s throughout the year (one every other month) , it’s time for the second part of the story. 
The main event is ‘Turn It Up Loud!’ featuring legendary NYC MC Craig G 
Perhaps most well-known for being one of the members of Marley Marl’s Juice Crew, Craig G has a 30+ year spanning career and now he’s bringing his iconic vocal hooks to Bristol. Overflowing with swagger, infectious rhymes and an old-school groove that doesn’t quit for one second. ‘Turn It Up Loud!’ is fuelled with percussive stabs, grooving bass and a whole load of funk throughout. On creating the track, Boca added: 
“I grew up on the golden era of hip-hop from the mid-80s. One of my favourite producers of the time was ‘Marley Marl,' who was part of the Juice Crew (with Roxanne Shante / Biz Markie etc), which was repped by the legendary  Cold Chillin’ label. The first time I heard Craig G was on a posse cut called “The Symphony” which also featured Big Daddy Kane, Kool G Rap,  & Masta Ace. Craig went on to do loads of other bombs with Marley such as ‘Droppin' Science.’ When I reached out to Craig he was well up for the collab and I mentioned I wanted a track that tipped it’s hat to those late 80s Juice Crew classics, but updated for 2020 dance floors. Hard and heavy on the drums with funky good time rhymes - I think it turned out good. 
Joining ‘Turn It Up Loud!’ on the AA side is ‘Blow Your Mind,’ an effortlessly cool vintage hip-hop triumph that will have you moving your feet and nodding your head in no time. Coming in at 118BPM, this is an eccentric soul-driven record produced to perfection. 
Boca says “Blow Your Mind” is more of a Boca cut and shut number in the vein of Diegos Theme. There are loads of break downs and made cap sections, it’s fab for cutting up and perfect for doubling up for the turntablists out there !

Boca 45 is known as somewhat of a Bristol (UK) institution from his early days in the mid 90s selling Golden Era Hip Hop from behind the counter of the seminal Purple Penguin record shop rapidly becoming one of Bristol’s most in demand DJs for a quick fire mix of bone-cracking breaks, hip hop, coruscating funk, rock and heavy soul these are all of the musical ingredients which make up Forty Five.
Once Scott Boca got to grips with the studio from the early 00’s he’s had continuous releases, remixes, DJ mixes on labels such as Island/Universal, Domino Recordings, Ninja Tunes, Grand Central, Illicit, Jalapeno, Unique & more under a slew of aliases.
At the advent of Scott Boca’s 45th year on planet Earth he decided to hone everything he’s learnt and loved into one killer solo record.
When making Forty Five, Boca pulled together friends, family and footie mates to make a record that would deserving stand as his musical autobiography - that cast list included his Bryan Munich teammates (Geoff Barrow and Billy Fuller from Beak, Ben Salisbury), Kasabian’s Sergio Pizzorno, NYC MC Emskee, New Zealander soul singer Louis Baker and Malachai bandmate Gee.
Forty Five is Scott Bocas life story in twelve cuts; the soundtrack to an immersion in sound, it’s an honest personal statement. His Twin teenage Sons designed the Forty Five Logo, Boca wrote the comprehensive sleeve notes personally breaking down the back ground of each track as well as making the inner collage using images from all of the collaborators on the LP.
The first people to hear the record outside of a close circle of friends was titanic U.S. record label Mass Appeal (home to DJ Shadow, Nas, Run the Jewels and the J Dilla catalogue).
They immediately offered and signed the record in a worldwide deal.
Previously Scott Boca provided a track for the Banksy Movie “Exit Through The Gift Shop” & in 2015 the elusive artist personally requested Boca to DJ with his 45s at the opening night at his Dismal Land Show.
2018 saw Boca release Bocas Club Donuts - a series of five highly covetable, DJ Friendly iron banger 7’’ singles which each sold out within a matter of hours to a rabid set of collectors via only announcements via his own social media channels.
