~ a meadow of flowers ~

After a dark year+ of life's growing pains, with the decision to move home to Wales, ending a big relationship, reaching for the future self.
A meadow of flowers became my light, a vision of the future and a safe space to grow, to reclaim my senses.
During all the change, the vision of the meadow would keep me calm and somehow became my beacon.

Now I'm living amongst the meadows, nurturing the soul, resetting, mourning, celebrating, all that came before.

To be able to share this soundpiece on that day, my birthday, full moon rising of course, meant so so much.
To see all these conscious beings feel it, go into the soil, feel the growing journey, then dance like frolicking flowers, was so special, eternally grateful for that platform to express the truth <3

Thank you so much to the Les Siestes community, was such a special festival, to celebrate adventurous sound. 
A free public event, set in the Japanese zen garden in Toulouse.
The wether was so moody all weekend, but somehow the concerts stayed dry, then sun even came out for my set, a birthday gift to me :))
Will treasure that day forever xx

Psychedelic meditations.

For anyone not yet familiar, bad lsd trips is a collaboration between artists doris dana and Domingo Castillo. Last year, they released an album on enmossed that mixes early industrial, dark ambient and drone into shape-shifting structures. It's quickly become a personal favourite. 

Their Theory Therapy mix is a special one. Like their music, it's refreshingly unpredictable and tonally distinctive – a seemingly disparate collage of hums and sounds that will firmly lodge itself into your brain. Enjoy the trip.

“A mixtape of unreleased music and a few collaborations with friends which I thought would be a perfect mix for a Monday listen.”

KMRU, also known as Joseph Kamaru, is a sound artist originally from Nairobi and currently based in Berlin. He explores sound to convey various interpretations in his work, drawing from his listening experiences in Nairobi and beyond and grounded in the discourse of field recording, noise, and sound art.

Working under the guidance of Jasmine Guffund at Berlin’s Universität der Künste (better known as UDK), KMRU looked at waveforms and embarked on a process where he would “write scores from the shapes, gradually turning the scores into raw synth sounds.”
 

Kamaru’s ambient-experimental music has taken him to the Barbican, Berlin Atonal, Présences
électronique, and seen releases on Editions Mego, Subtext, Seil Records.

His new LP ‘Dissolution Grip,’ released on his OFNOT imprint, marks a shift in his approach, blending field recordings with synthesized sounds, hinting at his evolving musical direction.

With all that in mind, we thought we’d ask Kamaru to put us together this week’s mixtape for a Monday… let’s get stuck in.

I think it's finally safe to celebrate the end of the yearly monochrome nightmare that is the Glaswegian winter and we're soaking up our first healthy dose of vitamin C to the lovely sounds in this mix from Perila. It's a true to form selection of late night lavender oil relaxers to help you mellow out after a long day of enjoying Spring and we're really glad to be able to share it. Vol. 56 is an immersive 2 hour recording by Latvian artist Artur Strekalov aka mu tate. He first appeared on my radar with his EP “Static” released on Edited Arts in 2019, and since then has been releasing bits and pieces on Bandcamp. This mix he's put together is an unhurried, consistently engaging dive into slow sonics.

Bodily is a community space exploring the interconnection between music, mind and movement, creating alternative avenues through the way in which we can experience sound.
