The first release of 2022 on Fatboy Slim’s @southernfriedrecords comes from Irish house and techno producer @monacosoyouknow. A 303 stomper, Monaco says “The dancefloor can be everybody’s catwalk at times, so I wanted to wrap an acid record in a Celine coat and see what happens”

Following a release on Dance System’s imprint which received support from Sarah Story, Skream, Jaguar, Tijana T and Busy P, Monaco begins 2023 on Sven Vath’s Cocoon Recordings before coming back to Southern Fried Records.

Alex Autajon - Hotel Adriano [Moveltraxx]

Cee Cee & Wall Ra are the German rap duo known for conceiving B-Funk, short for Berlin Funk. Bringing the West Coast to the Spree Coast, the genre is heavily influenced by Lowriders, Gary Payton, Too $hort, and Ant Banks. In a time not so long ago, Cee Cee, aka Cut Master Hang, was given the ability to scratch records ever so fantastically by a promiscuous male witch in exchange for a pair of rare Air Jordan 7 Miro sneaks. At first glance this might seem like an unequal exchange, however, it is important to remember that since dunking from the free throw line in 1988, Michael Jordan has been considered a person not bound to gravity or physics, which therefore makes his shoes products of magic. Chillin’ one day in Berlin’s Northside a la Nettelbeck, he met Wall Ra, a local dice roller and rapper who spent his nights hustling in the various numbered Bierbaums across the city. Blessed with the gift of gab, he gained notoriety as being the first hip hop recordings to use the word “slappin’”– a word which became one of the rapper's trademarks and was the focus of subsequent songs such as "Ain't Nothin' but a Slap to Me". Bonding over their love of G-Funk and dizzle dancing, they decided to make an album which felt like taking a stroll  through the streets of Berlin while drinking Olde English 800. Serving up fat basslines like candy paint dripping out ya speaker, collaborations with DJ Skain and the Notorious B.U.F.F. gave it an extra layer of je ne sais quoi. Keeping that fam community spirit alive, this deck2deck duo head to the Mega Buff Mansion this Wednesday to perform live raps and while blending Bay Area G-Funk, remixed mit dem Berlin Geschmack - nightcap vibes guaranteed.

Few people know that before becoming a DJ and the driving force behind @deck2deck-records, @onlydjbusiness was the leading figure of Munich’s Vinyl Cash Movement. At an early age, he realised that nearly all contemporary money systems are based on unbacked fiat money without any real joy or use value. His book “How Capitalists Pigs Causeth the Bark of Trees, Made Into Something Like Paper, to Pass for Money All Over the World” laid out several theories, including the idea that a monetary system based on vinyl exchange was superior to one based on bank-issued notes. DJ Skain remembers, "Reactions to him were polarised. Either people disliked him very much and thought his theories were too abstract and dangerous, or they were easily seduced by him," In 2009, Alex (as he was then known) established the Munchener Vinylbank which issued beats, subsidised the production of analogue drum machines, made sample loans to business, and was financed through various funk outlets. Alas, mp3 killed the vinyl star and the bank, including the Kingdom of Bavaria’s economy, collapsed. King Ludwig III was furious and ordered that he be hung from the rafters. After years on the run, Alex finally settled in Berlin where he decided to pursue his passion for uncovering forgotten party slappers and skeng anthems. In need of a new identity, he finally settled on the name “DJ Business”. Commenting on the same pretentiousness between banking and DJ cultures, he later said, “The DJ game can be kinda wack with all the hype, so I flipped it and called myself "DJ Business." Free track I put up for xmas 2009. Just thought I'd bung it up here for all to have. This was my original version of what became the Revolution single. Not really sure what i was trying to do here. Seemed like a good idea at the time. Novamute weren't really into it so again its been resigned to the bottom of the hardrive. Although it also appeared on our DVD called "We Made Our Own Disaster".
