BIKYU comes from a Cantonese family that immigrated to Tāmaki Makaurau in the 1990s. Having spent time in China and Aotearoa, BIKYU was raised in a mixture of Western and Chinese culture and is now finding music a continuation of their (often confusing) self-expression. Selecting from his favourite Asian musicians and producers, this genre-blending festive mix for the new year of the rabbit explores the nostalgia that has been sprawling in his mind since the start of the pandemic that kept them away from their homeland. From the then avant-garde 1990s and 2000s Cantopop songs to the variety of Sinofuturistic tracks that are indeed careful investigations of the Chinese diaspora, through the mix, you’ll find everything he loves and misses and everything that has made him who he is today.

Turning the focus back to our next episode, we’re very happy to introduce @rydeenrydeen who has provided an amazing show for our return. Rydeen is a musician, DJ and radio host living and working on unceded Wangal and Gadigal land (aka Sydney, Australia). Ry co-hosts the long-running weekly club music show, “Spin the Bottle" on Sydney community station, FBi Radio. Their work has appeared on Juke Bounce Werk, Balamii Radio, Dublab, triple j and alongside the Australian Chamber Orchestra.

Composer of the soundtrack for 'The show is over,' the main installation for Wu Tsang's exhibition, ASMARA (aka Asma Maroof) is an electronic musician, DJ and producer. She is also known as NGUZUNGUZU, a duo formed with Daniel Pineda in Los Angeles that explores dystopian sound atmospheres.
