This month will see Ryan Lee West aka Rival Consoles debut his new live set, restricting himself to a small selection of analogue equipment such as the Moog Voyager, Prophet and tape delay, as he supports Luke Abbott on his UK tour.

In celebration, Rival Consoles offers his fans a free download of the title track 'Odyssey' – a reflection of his quest to create atmosphere and space from minimal arrangements. His new EP also features label friend Peter Broderick and is available now on Erased Tapes.

Excerpt of a multimedia music performance called Lila Negr by the Identity Problem Group inspired by the songs and personality of Alexander Vertinsky. Russian artist, poet, singer, composer, who exerted a seminal influence on the Russian tradition of artistic singing. Lila Negr combines video installations with electronic music, the IP Group deconstructs the myth of one of the most original stage artists of the 20th century.  Work in progress, which as a concept is different at each time it is pressented. Next performances and more links to come.

"An Album Leaf" was composed for me in 2002. Premiered at the Warsaw Autumn Festival in the saame year.

2015 will see German techno mainstay Stephan Bodzin ready to unleash his next full-length musical vision on the world. Entitled “Powers of Ten”, the 10-track album will land in June 2015 on his own Herzblut Recordings and provides another great insight into the melodically rich muscle mind of this modern great.
Says Stephan Bodzin of the LP: “Powers of Ten has been with me all my life and is named after a book that has been my background hiss, its confusing truth is my only real faith and its infinity shows me its finiteness. The album is about harmonies, melodies, rhythms. It is an homage to Bob Moog, full of techno beats and sounds and space and party and ecstasy and dancing and listening, and crying and feeling. It is a journey, a philosophy of life, a view of the world, a vague perception. It is my wife, my children, my family, my friends, my passion, my enemy, my greatest fulfillment, my fear, my deepest peace, my power, all my love.”
As such, this album is hugely personal and is filled with cerebral messages and well thought out concepts. All this shines through and makes it an all the more engaging listen from start to finish. Kicking off with the spine tingling chords and louche beats of ‘Singularity’ cuts like ‘Lila’ then continue to confirm that Stephan Bodzin has a classical understanding of melody that is way beyond your average.
‘Blue Giant’, ‘Wir’ and ‘Ix’ all manage to be uplifting and thoughtful at the same time as driven and groovy, whilst ‘Birth’ comes on with a hymnal high note, long tailed pads and subtly shifting beats. The ghostly grooves of ‘Zulu’ mark a majestic mid point to the album, which then continues to seduce with spiritual synths and more beautiful melodies on cuts like ‘Odyssee’ as well as the album’s standout title track.
Unfolding coherently and in soothing fashion, this album once again proves that few producers in the modern world have a knack for melody and an ear for sonic ingenuity quite like Stephan Bodzin.

Alabaster - UA (unintended ambient)

2015 saw Stephan Bodzin release his second full length, “Powers of Ten”, as well as a new single on DJ Tennis’ and Tale of Us’ taste making label Life and Death. The album is another magical piece of work that focuses on melody and rhythm, on fat bass and vivid sound design and is a truly captivating journey through the mind, music, body and soul of one of dance music’s truly modern greats. After its release, a great team of modern music makers was enlisted to remix tracks from it: Maceo Plex & Shall Ochin, Fur Coat, Extrawelt, long time musical sparring partner Marc Romboy, Pan-Pot, Max Cooper, Agents of Time, Dominik Eulberg and many more all contributed to what is an essential collection. With a remix of ‘Sleepless’, a Pan-Pot track from their latest album, Stephan Bodzin closed the latest chapter of 2015 in what has been an exhilarating musical journey in his capable and creative hands.

This piece premiered at a concert called "RECOMPOSED", which analyzed a concept of teachers & students, influences, process of learning.

Galvojau apie ryšį su mokytojais ir supratau – ok, galbūt John Cage galėtų būt apibrėžtas kaip mokytojas (groja John Cage-Experience no.2). Taigi, jei John Cage yra mano mokytojas, tai koncertui turiu pasirinkti savo mėgtsamiausią jo kūrinį. Pagalvojau, pagalvojau, John Cage „Tyla“ yra mano mėgstamiausias kūrinys, filosofine ir patirties prasme. Paklausykime tylos. Šio kambario tylos. Ir kambario, kuriame įrašinėjau šį balsą, tylos. Ką tik girdėjote 10 sekundžių mano kambario tylos. Iš tiesų, tai ne tyla. Tylos nėra ir čia. Ir tai nėra nauja ir aš negaliu sukurti remikso iš kažko, ko nėra arba tam, kas visą laiką kinta. Taigi, kaip kompozitorė pajutau įkvėpimą sukurti geriausių dainų ir kūrinių miksą, kuriuos įkvėpia mane, kurios sukūrė mane, kurios yra dalis mano istorijos. Sąvoką mokytojas supratau savaip – noriu pagroti kūrybą žmonių, kurie buvo mano mokytojais, kurie yra mano mokytojais, įkvėpimo šaltinių ar reikšmingų gyvenimo įvykių muziką, nes būtent tai „sukuria mus“. Nesvarbu, kad kai kurie jų labai juokingi, bet... pabandom. (groja Alice Deejay - Better off alone). Ir pagalvojau, kad galėčiau šiuos kūrinius pakomentuoti. L'amour (ambient mix)

“Between You and We” is made up of three parts of a 41 minute piece.
Each piece is a stand alone piece but works even better heard one after the other.

The music is freely improvised in a free melodic form that I call Modern Modal Music.
It means that I use melodies and variations on them using a basic reference tone.
The melodies work to push and pull from the basic bass tone all the while taking advantage of the unique sound quality that the mosesa offers as filtered through electronic pedals amplified through a bass amp. Micro tones, overtones, scrapes, knocks, …any sound quality is welcomed in Modern Modal Music as long as it supports the expression of the melodies.
