i remember bree showed me this song when i was 11 or 12 maybe, and she would have been 14 or 15. we were on the porch and she was smoking a cigarette and i couldn't yet comprehend the danger that inhabited the world. she had shown me what existed at large, on myspace on her imac in her foster home. im trying to follow this thread back to all the places music has taken root in my life and the people that planted it there. i've been fostering this seed all this time and only now unearthed the marriage between harshness and tenderness and that so many sweet memories lay soiled at the pit of my stomach.
