Deejay Astral, the artist formerly known as Palace, is making moves to establish his new persona, and his new EP on W&O Street Tracks (out Dec. 7) should more than see to that. In the loosest possible sense, the three tracks that comprise Astral's self-titled three-tracker could be classified as house music. But it's so much more than that. None of the tracks on the EP stick to a rigid format, constantly toying with house music's innumerable tropes. "Phantasy", in particular, takes a deep house melody and distorts it to give it a crunchy analogue feeling not often heard in house music. Add to that the unsettling, tortured vocal refrain that drips with anguish and you've got a piece of house music that won't be forgotten in a hurry. This is one hell of an opening gambit and one we can't wait to see him top.

Sour Edits label boss xxxy links with fast rising talent Braga Circuit to deliver 'Sour Edits Vol. 3', which features the disco-tinged house anthem 'Take You There'.

The next installment in the Sour Edits series sees the imprint move from strength to strength following Marcin Krupa's solo release and the label's debut EP from xxxy. 'Sour Edits Vol. 3' consists of four tracks, each with a strong focus on the dancefloor while showcasing a soulful essence by brilliantly giving new life to classic samples.

Look for the 'Sour Edits Vol. 3' EP to be released in September.

Premiere: Braga Circuit & xxxy 'Take You There'

"This latest EP from London's DJ Button Moon kicks off on a moody note, as suspenseful strings hang in the air on the title track. Big, saturated analog drums are the order of the day, as they crunch their way into an emotionally driven hook.

Tracks two and three are twins by name, but not by nature. "Trust In Man, He Will Fail You" delivers blistering techno kicks, supported by a winding melody and fizzling percussion. Meanwhile "Trust In The Lord, He Will Heal You" is an exalted exploration of filtered, sample heavy piano house.

Button Moon shows three somewhat different sides of the stylistic coin across the EP, but all the tracks are underpinned by the same emotional drive, informed by the philosophy that music is best made intuitively, without over-complication."
