This is an edited 20minute soundscape of my travels across Rwanda in November/December 2022. The sounds were primarily recorded along the lakeshore of Kivu in Western Rwanda on the Congo border and also in the East of the country along the border with Tanzania. The final 4 minutes are the songs of the night fishermen who brave the waters in darkness, they sing for bravery, strength and to return.

Rwanda Mixdown

From dusk to dawn with two pairs of cranes and one or two single male contenders. In this recording you will hear almost infrasound (80-200 Hz) growls and heavy panting as the males chase each other in the wetland and of course the trumpeting of cranes through the night. An amazing experience to be this close. Huddunge, Uppsala. April 9, 2024.

Martens have increased in numbers the last 5 years and several times I have seen a marten robbing young from thrush nests in the vicinity. Although you cannot hear the marten it is clear from the *very* annoyed Mistle Thrushes and Blackbirds that this marten had been successful.
