Medley Moden Caklempong (Diploma Program Assignment)

This song was composed and arranged for a program named CIPTA XPRESS 2016 hosted by Music AuthorsCopyright Protection (MACP) Berhad collaborating with the Faculty of Music Universiti Teknologi MARA Shah Alam. It was recorded and compiled with other nine songs of my colleagues. This song is composed by me, arranged by Mr Adam Masumi, lyrics by Ad Samad, and mixed by Riza Omar. Throughout this program, I am assigned under a mentoring tutor, the legendary S Atan, one of the musicians I respect the most. This song was performed live at Intekma Resort, Shah Alam, Selangor, Malaysia on the 25th September 2016, and was sung by Khairul Hakimi Hashim.

Aku Bermohon

Realiti is a composition for duet voice and piano. Its lyrics and the composition are made by the student composer himself. This is a modern pop ballad song that tells you a story about a persona who kept on dreaming when the persona realizes that reality hurts; it will not be as perfect as what can be imagined. The first verse in this song is telling the listener about how life can be beautiful with the dreams in the fantasized world. The second verse tells the listener that the persona realized that it is only a dream in his or her sleep. The pre-chorus tells you about the transition of the realization of the reality from the dream the persona had. The chorus tells you that the persona is reflecting on the reality and what should be done with it. The modulated chorus suggests the persona that it is time to wake up and live the dream without dealing with fantasy and always be grateful to God for what He has given to the persona. The composer is influenced by the music brought by Malaysian artists like Yuna & Aizat Amdan and by European artists like Christina Perri & Ed Sheeran. That motivates the composer to write music by referring to the style the aforementioned artists.

The performance was recorded live in UiTM Faculty of Music, Shah Alam, Selangor, Malaysia and the music was performed by the young talented pianist, Euler Edwin & sung by the gorgeous mezzo-soprano Adlina Mazme.

Realiti (Vocal & Piano Duet)

This orchestral piece is depicting a story of a man who had a journey in his fantastical dream where he faced various obstacles in it. From comical theme to lullaby, then from mystery to war-like theme, the composer sets the various mood to suggest the man's journey from the time he started his dream until the last tranquil theme where he woke up.

This is an audio playback from Sibelius 8 and exported using Note Performer. This composition was performed live in several events such as the 7th Malaysian Composer Concert Series 2016 and The UiTM Composition Showcase "FIN" 2017.

Dream Sketches

Nadi is an orchestral piece instrumented for small chamber orchestra.  If Nadi can be a soundtrack for a film, it suits the theme of family, love, and death. The composer intends to deliver a message, stating that death is a beautiful stage of a human being after living, even if the moment of dying can be intense and painful. Put in a story, the old man soldier is dying on the hospital bed but he is not afraid of the fact that he will be dead. Beautiful moments captured in his mind and gratitude showered on him because of the life he had been experiencing with the loved ones. On his bedside are the daughter and the grandchild, smiling even their eyes thicken with pool of tears. The last thing he could remember is he gasped for air before total blackout. The next thing he encounters is that he felt lighter and saw his late wife, in front of him. He smiled and he knew that he is already in a new place no one can imagine its beauty. The composer used the theme to characterize the film, with several sections that represent reminiscence, moments of dying and after-death scene.

Nadi

The composer enjoys listening to the sound of the piano and the technical virtuosity of it,
thus, composed a lot of piano music. One of them is a patriotic art song that the composer
intends to add the influence of the Malaysian 80’s patriotic music. Merdeka Untuk Kita is
composed to commemorate the sacrifice of the patriots who fight for Malaysia Independence
Day and to show appreciation to the recent land that Malaysians lived on today. The lyrics tell
the listener how the people before Independence Day live their life and how we should value the
freedom given by Malaysian’s multiracial people. In the chorus, the persona asks the listener to
keep united despite the differences to sustain the harmonious life that Malaysians enjoy and
cherish. The texts used are in full Malay language to represent the national language of
Malaysian, which Malaysians can be able to comprehend. This composition was written as the
entry for the 60 th Malaysia Independence Day Song Composition Competition organized by the
Kuala Lumpur and Selangor Chinese Assembly Hall and this song won the first prize. This duet
is performed by the pianist, Euler Edwin Edward Justin Majanil and the baritone, Mohd Ruzaini
Bin Roslan.

Merdeka Untuk Kita

This is a piece for a trumpet, a trombone and gamelan ensemble that consists of a bonang, two saron peking, a saron demong, a gambang, a gendang (either ibu or anak) and a geduk (either ibu or anak). Unknown Legacy has two movements; ‘Reign of Anonymous’ is the first movement and ‘Descendants’ Trials!’ is the second movement. In the ‘Reign Of Anonymous’, most of the elements of Malay & Indonesian tradition is highlighted; for examples, cincang is the playing style played by the saron players and the gendang player is imitating the rhythm pattern from Timang Burung. In the second movement, ‘Descendants’ Trials!’ the tempo changes slightly faster and the mood setting has changed from tranquility to calamity. Compared to the previous movement, the second movement promises warfare and festivity. It is more contemporary rather than traditional, but the melodic idea is carefully maintained. With the incorporation of traditional and contemporary flavor, this piece is assuring excitement to the listeners.

Graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree and Diploma in Music from a leading Malaysian public university; experienced in choral singing and early childhood Music & Movement. Active in international choir competitions since 2016, performing in the Czech Republic, Italy, Greece, Germany, and Poland, earning multiple gold awards. Seven years of Music & Movement teaching for children aged 2 to 6, with expertise in lesson planning and yearly syllabi based on developmental milestones.
