Halogens latest release brings two seasoned craftsmen, Ilk & Etch together for a collaborative effort on ‘My Soul’. The two combine their production skills for a soulful stepper with intricate drum patterns layered with classic breakbeats, soul samples, and heavy sub bass - taking the listener back to the classic 90’s jungle era with modern day influences.

The B-side features remix duties from Danny Scrilla. Danny is a well seasoned producer with releases on such labels as Cosmic Bridge, Civil Music, Rudimentary Records, and most recent Zam Zam Sounds. Danny brings his integrity to ‘My Soul’ with a heavy 808 halftime intro, seductive piano work, and detailed horn stabs; leading the listener into a melodic dance floor jungle shuffle with a delicate vocal sample weaving in and out of the track sending chills down your spine.

Though he's been producing music under a range of aliases for around fifteen years now, Jay Raymann settled on the J(ay).A.D. moniker in 2011 and has since attracted the attention of Cosmic Bridge boss Om Unit who decided to give him an outlet on CDB, the new digital-only arm of the label. Om Unit's not his only champion, Boxed co-founder Slackk and multi-disciplined genius Bjö​rk have both lent their support to the producer, and it's no wonder. Clearly appealing to their love of dark and caustic electronica, "Send Off" (taken from his impending Keti Koti EP, due Apr. 29) combines big cavernous spaces with smatterings of jungle's rolling breaks and skittish footwork tom toms. But what is most outstanding is that these are actually Jungle. No loops, but proper chops, no crazy/lazy wobble bass (yawn) but deep, deep chestplate business! Big up my Selectah 10/10
