I had the pleasure to remix Martin Stimming's master piece and title track "Alpe Lusia".

Spring 2016 saw the release of Stimming’s fourth full length album “Alpe Lusia”, which was named after a remote little alpine hut in northern Italy, in which he had secluded himself to work on his LP for a full month, all by himself. From the title track of his LP emanates his following release on Diynamic, the Alpe Lusia Remixes, and the remixing protagonists are none other than Robag Wruhme, long time collaborateurs Acid Pauli & NU and last but not least Solomun.

First off is Pampa mainstay Robag Wruhme, whose take on Stimming’s “Alpe Lusia” starts off as a dark and brooding tech house gem. Later, when you have made your way through its rough outer shell, peeling off the hard claps, it shows its soft core, with gentle pads caressing the arrangement.

Acid Pauli & NU deliver a deep and driving, almost haunting reinterpretation of “Alpe Lusia", with a thumping bass and ethereal vocals that are hypnotizing.

Finally, Solomun adds a remix that reminds you of the rabbit hole in Alice's Wonderland: the longer you dig, the deeper you get, and the more fantastic is what you experienece.

The original version is the only track on the album without a real groove, which is why Stimming chose precisely this track to be remixed - to see what the others would do about that. Now it is fair to say that all three remixes have succeeded at this task.

Spring season is open for Anathema Records, welcoming the Netherlands' duo Mononoid (Andy Godderis and Igor Shumlyanskiy) with their label debut EP - 'Ballata'. Mononoid was born from the word 'Mono' (as in solo) and the word 'nooit' (Dutch for never), basically meaning 'never alone', connecting art and music evolving into their own unique sound.

'Ballata' kicks in with a pounding bassline combined with eerie sounds integrating melodic elements and organic percussions that crash all-together into a progressive build-up of mysterious synths with dark-clubby attitude.

Focusing more on the dancefloor, Keef Luv's remix expands forcefully on the beat of the original.  Right from the start, the track is captivating, and before you know it you have listened to the entire piece.

Throughout the track, beautiful soundscapes distract the listener for brief moments, just to pressure back into the dawning drum beat.

This is the slogan of the new Artist feature in our tape series: A Skitzo. The slogan not only describes his multi-layered sets but moreover how he uses ethnic and cultural influences to create his own, unidentified house style.

The Bosnian artist shows in his productions one of the basic characteristics of electronic music: using and creating sounds from all over the world to fabricate completely new sound scapes - an art he has acquired over the years.

His productions on, among others, Lump Records, Soundteller Records, Manual Music / MNL, 90watts or Submarine Vibes show this very characteristic and his personal fingerprint in the electronic music scene, not least through his participation in the Red Bull Music Academy in 2004.

Over the years, he has enthused at festivals like Exit Festival, Sónar Festival or Hideout Festival Croatia and has played in several different countries and continents of the world. We are more than happy to present his next EP: 'Abyss' on Grey Bar Hotel!

Grey Bar Hotel is a Berlin-based label that focuses on melodic techno and house, deep and afro. We love to discover new soundscapes and are passionate to discover new artists, in case you have an interesting EP or single, send us the link!
