Synchro destiny, that is what took place on a sunny day at the beautiful Macanudo Cigar lounge in the heart of Copenhagen. Nick noticed an interesting fella in the lounge and decided to joke around with his outfit, tennis shoes and a sports jacket. Turns out, that someone was none other than the world-renowned doctor, author and speaker - Sanjiv Chopra. The Doctor and Nick clicked right away, speaking on everything from happiness, to finding purpose, meditation and success over cigars. Sanjiv was in town for his 70th birthday, traveling around Europe for the last couple weeks with his family celebrating. Thankfully, the former Faculty Dean for Continuing Medical Education at Harvard Medical School, was ecstatic to get on Bold Perceptions the next day. This episode was just one hour of the five hours Sanjiv and Nick spent together over the course of two days, and the beginning of a friendship Nick is extremely grateful for. Nick welcomes the multi-talented, Claus Elming, during his last day in Copenhagen before traveling back to the United States. Mr. Elming is a Danish TV Host and American football proprietor. Claus is comparable to John Madden in what he has done in growing American Football in Europe. He facilitated bringing American football to Denmark after falling in love with the game while living in the United States as an exchange student. He started two Football clubs, coached in the Danish Football league in 2002, and has been a NFL TV analyst for years. Claus was inducted into the Danish American Football Federation Hall of Fame. Nick is back in America and welcomes his long-time friend Jake. Jake had a three year battle with addiction and opens up about it for the first time on the podcast. His longtime marijuana use morphed into full on indulgence with harder drugs, such as, Opiates and Xanax. Nick and Jake take a deep dive into the dark world of drug addiction. *** Nick’s Notes ~ Seeing Jake in person for the first time in about a year, after all the recent struggles that I had heard about through the grapevine, I was thrilled by the positive energy he gave off. Jake has been a good friend of mine, and to see him full of life again brought me back in time to when we were kids. I am very happy and proud of Jake for sharing his story and trying to help others that might be going through what he did. I also believe by him doing this podcast, there is no going back - as he will be held to it!
