There's a skinny, old lady standing outside your window. 
So gentle she's almost transparent, all dressed in grey. 
Something about her appearance suggests she's a widow. 
There are tears in her eyes that will never go away. 

She knows all there is to know 
about loss and sorrow 

Her voice is so thin you can barely hear her whispers,  
words full of comfort and truth, as old as the wind.  
She doesn't say much, but she is the greatest of listeners. 
Patiently waiting for you to let her in. 

Will you open your door for Norwegian November,  
or close your curtains and act like she's not here? 
Will you dress her up like a clown and pretend she's December,  
or welcome her in as she is and see what she holds dear? 

She doesn't have many friends, as people get frightened.  
Scared of her honesty and calm gravity. 
But if they had given her time, she'd sing them a melody, 
as fragile and beautiful as life itself. 

She knows all there is to know.  
And invites you to tell the stories of your own.

Christmas, sloppy Sufjan-style. Promised last year that I should do another Chistmas-tune, to avoid posting "Wishlist" every December until the end of internet. Didn't turn out to be the best song ever, but then again - which Christmas song is?
