Joining forces for their collaborative debut on Bombstrikes, Kenny Beeper and SwinINC have delivered a full-throttle Bass Funk track in the form of 'Do It Likes This'. Already well established with a string of chart successes to his name, Kenny Beeper certainly isn’t new to the label. Here though he is joined by fellow Australian SwinINC who together have smashed shows with some of the scene's biggest names including Opiuo and Krafty Kuts.

The vibrant electronic flavours of ‘Do It Like This’ hit hard, with the bass-heavy instrumentation being driven along perfectly by Everyman’s rawkus flow, combining Hip Hop elements with guitars, synth, and driving percussion which makes for a perfect blend to trouble sound systems.

'Freed From Desire' is Nat Tate's cover of a dance anthem featuring Waldo's Gift and Yolanda Quartey (AKA Yola, fresh from playing Sister Rosetta in Baz Luhrmann's Elvis movie), reworked into future funk classic by Boca 45. Guitar riffs and rolling beats dance alongside one hell of a vocal performance from Yolanda. Delivering an interpretation with such gravitas that it feels like it could actually be the original.

The last few years have seen The Niceguys in prodigious form, redefining their sound through an acclaimed musical output. Now they take time to reflect by inviting some of their favourite artists to reinterpret their work for this 'Remixed EP'. First up, production duo CMC & Silenta reimagine 'Strip It'. They skilfully preserve its funk-laden goodness injecting new life into the mix with tantalizing guitar licks, irresistible synth hooks and a beefed-up bottom end that serves as the perfect foundation for the soul-laden vocals of Bobby Saint and smooth flow of Prop Dylan. Funk Maestro Jayl Funk takes to the controls for his rework of 'Don't Let Go' in which he takes the tempo down a little, adds some horn hooks and a swinging grove to bring out the best from Justina Lee Brown's amazing vocal performance, creating a nu-funk masterpiece. Next up, Jack & Jointz toughen up the infectious 'Dance' adding breakbeat elements and organ riffs to drive along Leo's neo-soul vocals, aiming squarely at the dancefloor. Finally, rounding off the package is the classic remix of Irie by Flevans. He strips things back before building them up with a high level of musicality in a groove-heavy remix that is equally at home in a club or home listening. All in all a perfect way to round up The Niceguy's releases to date whilst we wait with anticipation for the next phase of their musical journey.

The label welcome funk maestro Ali B back to the label and this time he is alongside hip hop royalty in the form of Baby Bam (Jungle Brothers). No strangers to working together, the two have already entered national charts and picked up playlists at BBC 6 music with previous musical collaborations. With a career spanning over 2 decades in music, Ali was one of the first and longest standing residents at legendary club Fabric, in addition to hosting radio shows on Capital and Kiss. Equally, Bam's legacy spans back to the 1980s as a founding member of the hip hop defining Jungle Brothers. He has also worked alongside luminaries such as De La Soul and Tribe Called Quest during a much lauded career.

And, if that wasn't enough there are two remixes, both of which bring something different to the party. First up, Dubra & Arteo's remix ups the tempo a little and brings that solid dance floor production they are so loved for, fusing 808s and electronica to stunning effect. Then, Beatvandals flip it completely with disco based hooks bringing a huge dose of funk to the table. With three versions of the highest quality containing outstanding vocals from the legendary Baby Bam, this is an essential release from Bombstrikes!

After the original mix gaining much love and support right across the board including plays on BBC 6 music, this remix is a welcome addition to the 'Boogie' package. Rising Star of the scene WBBL adds his unique style of Bass and Funk into the melting pot with his take of the already classic Shaka Loves You track. WBBL instantly transforms this into a festival ready battle weapon for the summer, adding his insanely high-level production and a good dose of bass to Fullee Love's (aka Soup from Jurassic 5) smooth vocals. The remix was something of a passion project for WBBL. After hearing and loving the original mix from the Shaka guys, he approached them directly asking for the parts, so he could make his own interpretation as an exclusive version for his sets, but now you can your hands on this tried and tested cut!

Hot on the heels of his recent exclusive and one of the stand out tracks of the recent Bass Funk Volume 5 compilation album, Ninjula returns to Bombstrikes with a new EP - Spanish Princess. The L.A. producer continues to do things his way with mastery of all things Bass and Glitch, delivering 3 tracks of the highest quality that continue to push boundaries of not just styles and genres but also production as well.


The title track 'Spanish Princess' plays off two completely individual styles, the more traditional flamenco sounds of Spain against Ninjula's own full on assault of energy and bass. On paper this shouldn't work, but somehow, he has managed to twist this into a next level track. Next up is 'You Know I Like It' which is based around the catchiest funk guitar riff and vocal hook this side of summer, combined with Ninjula's trademark beats and bass for maximum effect. Lastly, 'What You Got' which shows another side of Ninjula's wide range of musical influences with a more industrial and epic cinematic journey.

Founded in 2004, the simple principal was delivering the funk with engaging music that always rocks the dance floors, regardless of genre. Started by two of the label's key artists, Mooqee & Beatvandals, each release had to be a bomb! This ethos continued throughout the initial vinyl based volume series and as the label evolved alongside the changing digital landscape, helping to develop a global funk and mid tempo scene along the way.

It's crazy to think how much the label has grown and now works with artists and partners from around the globe. Alongside individual artist releases Bombstrike is also home to the much loved Funk n' Beats, Disco Funkin' and Bass Funk compilation series, with guest curators helping the listener discover new music or unearth forgotten classics.

 

We continue to push things forward with everything we do, whether it is releases, festival stages or club nights....We always do it with our same founding ideals and will continue to do what we do best. Watch this space.
