Ecstatic Editions is the new label by Eris Drew. The first volume of Ecstatic Editions is a vinyl-only anthology of work previously unavailable on wax by the Xi’an-born and Toronto-based musician, Ciel. Her work was the impetus for the label because many of her amazing productions, collaborations and remixes have never been pressed to vinyl. As a producer, DJ, pianist and radio presenter, Ciel’s work is not only prolific and compelling, it involves an international network of individuals, labels, projects and artists; a musical meeting-place of positive intentions and creative interactions. This volume is needed not only because it makes these incredible original productions and remixes available to vinyl DJs, enthusiasts and collectors for the first time, but also because it tells a cohesive story, in a physical object, of an artist with a truly unique rhythmic, melodic and psychedelic style. 

Included here are three tracks from The Trojan Horse EP, a track from Naive’s “No Justice No Peace” compilation and fund-raising effort, Ciel’s remix for the Stockholm-based band Off the Meds, a track by Psychedelic Budz (a collaboration between Ciel and fellow Canadian D. Tiffany), a track from the Montreal Bass Coast Music festival’s annual digital-only compilation titled 12 Days, a remix of Toronto's downtempo soul saviors, the electronic duo LAL, and Ciel’s remix for Japanese artist Cuushe, which originally came out digitally on Tokyo’s FLAU.

GATOS NEGROS BET ON TEXTURE AND ABSTRACTION IN THEIR
SOPHOMORE ALBUM 'HI SCORE'.

Gatos Negros, aka Madrid DJs/ producers Christian C. & Iván Smoka, second album 'Hi Score' is a texture and abstraction gambling project now on sale via Vasco Ispirian's Made in Green Records label. 'Hi Score' sees the duo sailing ethereal ambient soundscapes, shady alt rock waves, experimental grooves almost horizontally danceable, acid electro-pop & avant-garde electronica- all in an utterly smart, consistent, and effective vocal fashion.

'HI SCORE' TRACK BY TRACK

The album's fully hybrid and lethargic sonic land starts with the ghostly, almost shoegaze, borderline post-rocker 'The Ballad of Victoria Winters', followed by the troubling ambient 'Up in the Smoke'. Everything melts onto pitch black with 'First Sleep' only to resurface again with the spectral sonic 'Chasing Cassie', which gives way to the obscure narcotic shades of 'Night Shift'. A fuzzy, ethereal melody starring loops follows on 'An Alternative Route', while 'Galactic Gigolo' draws us out of the mist only to entangle us with playful counterpoint arpeggios. Kyonsi's proposal is a complete immersion in a bordering dream-pop warm space to wander through, searching for a light that only sparkles inside us. 'Say Goodbye to the Creatures' digs deep into melancholic post-rock noise and electronica, steady ascending ladder steps towards total emptiness. The gloomy 'Who am I?' foreshadows quite an unhappy, swampy, requiem-esque ending. And the final number, 'The Jukebox Dance', let us lose ourselves in this rare nostalgia that evokes timeless and distant dances that perhaps did not ever exist.

bio en français (english follows below): Je suis un DJ, photographe, j'anime une émission de radio et je suis archiviste d'art et de musique basé à Moncton, Nouveau-Brunswick, Canada. Je suis un bâtisseur et facilitateur de la scène underground depuis plus de vingt ans. Par l'entremet de mon émission de radio La Photo Sonore (sur les ondes de CODIAC CKUM 93.5fm à l'Université de Moncton) je partage ma passion pour les arts et la musique avec acharnement. En plus d'être un chroniqueur de la scène artistique et culturel c'est les arts et la musique qui me garde aller avec ferveur. toujours en photo et musique. 

I'm a DJ, photographer, radio show host, music & arts archivist.  I'm based out Moncton, New Brunswick(Canada).  Longtime scene maker, supporter and facilitator of the canadian underground east coast music scene. I host a weekly radio show called La Photo Sonore on CODIAC CKUM 93.5FM (Université de Moncton) as well as host monthly dance parties called IPN with BONES all over the east coast of Canada.  I've also been a music and arts scene reporter for various shows on CBC and Radio Canada in the past.... music and the arts are what keep me going.
