Bongani Mazibuko aka Sessionist is a God fearing percussionist born and raised in Soweto Orlando West "the capital city of Soweto" as he says it. He plays Djembe, Congas and Piano but his passion lies with his drums. Sessionist did his primary education in Mzamo primary school and his high school at St Martins de pores.
His school experiences have memories such as joining Room 13 the art class where he got his first ten inch djembe drum and he was introduced to a business broader market for his craft sponsored by TBWA. One year later he was elected to be a committee member of St Martin's Room 13 art project because of his hard work and innovative business ideas to improve the Room 13 project at a his teenage years. 
His first performance to the world stage it was with DJ Mbuso at Pan African Station Cape Town year 2008. That was a gateway to bigger and better performances and goodbye to the uncle's garage. He has performed with the likes of DJ Themba Tee (the 1st DJ he performed with), DJ Sue, Vick Lavender, Abicah Soul, Kuniyuki Takahashi, Ralf Gum, Charles Webster, Layabouts, Amanni, Portia Monique, Zano, Thebe, Tumelo Ruele and the list goes on. Has performed in quite a number of places like the Cocoon, The Sands, VIP, and Soul Candy Spring Fiesta 2014/15, House 22, Chairman's lounge (Durban), Treckers night club (Botswana), Swaziland and Lesotho just to name a few. 
One of his memorable performances in 2014/15 was the performance he did for Mama Winnie Mandela with a few distinguished guests, for being the Best percussionist for house music and nominated by DEEP HOUSE NEWS in 2014/5, 2015 Durban July where he performed at 2 different Marquees, Old mutual and Equus Lounge, JHB BMW POLO 2015 (Equus lounge), KAYA FM PICNIC AT JHB ZOO, AND CHURN ANNUAL EVENT 2015, and at FNB STADIUM LOUNGE, ABSA LOUNGE VIP 2016.
Another highlight Sessionist has released a debut EP (Extended Play) of four tracks with his friend Akwande Hadebe (DJ Uphoria) which they form a duo called MUSIC MESSENGERS, I really love the combination of the EP it consists of jazzy, afro and soul influence and the music relates to wide market of music lovers.
On the other hand he forms a part of a new band called SOWETAN ONESTEPS which includes Andy Compton, Shamrock, and Mpho Diloro. The combination of the band is out of this world and they have already released they’re Debut album SOWETAN ONESTEP which features songs ASALI AND CELESTINE. LATEST NEWS PLEASE LOOK OUT FOR A COLLABORATION BETWEEN SESSIONIST AND RULF GUM.
Yet again He forms part of City Soul Addicts (CSA) a group jam packed with nothing but talent they’re know of hosting the best music sessions in JHB. CSA consists of Dr Selektor, Danny J, Mello Sn, DJ Angelo, Shamrock and DJ Thebang JD.Having witnessed one of Sessionist performances with CSA I know for a fact that Sessionist is truly gifted. 
This is why I second him when he says he can never run out of Rhythm.
